Nope. People are still buying the trickle down theory justification of the tax plan even though that's been proven a fallacy on multiple occasions at different levels of government. They also tend to be the party of Christians. Have you seen much in the way of behavior/policies from that side that jibe with true Christian values in the past 20 years? Sam Brownback and his disastrous experience in Kansas comes to mind. Absolutely. That's the most recent example that I thought of as well.

"the Stephen Miller approach to immigration has no viability... Mr. Miller is known in the Senate of having views on immigration that are outside the mainstream."

A pox on all their houses. They all have job to do and are failing miserably at it. Trump, House, Senate, the whole stinking lot of them.

Does anybody know what the WH would sign. Have they made that clear to anyone?

Does anybody know what the WH would sign. Have they made that clear to anyone? It, seemingly, wouldn't have mattered. Once the goals were met, the posts would be moved. IMO, this screams a desire for a shutdown. To what end (other than a misguided attempt to blame the Democrats), I have zero clue. If people buy the "Dems are more concerned about immigrants than they are about Americans," then I don't know what to say other than stupidity is nearly as large a problem as the clear lack of morality of the current administration.

On a related note, the President's tweets about needing to elect more Republicans so they can avoid compromise altogether are disturbing to me. Anyone else?

www.washingtonpost.com/politics/negotiating-with-jell-o-how-trumps-shifting-positions-fueled-the-rush-to-a-shutdown/2018/01/20/81215b90-fd71-11e7-a46b-a3614530bd87_story.html?utm_term=.ad92f5b7d3a6After the president ordered cameras out of the Cabinet Room that day, the group delved into the details. Kirstjen Nielsen, Trump’s homeland security secretary, and her staff passed out a four-page document on the administration’s “must haves” for any immigration bill — a hard-line list that included $18 billion for Trump’s promised border wall, eliminating the diversity visa lottery program and ending “extended family chain migration,” according to the document, which was obtained by The Washington Post. But one person seemed surprised and alarmed by the memo: the president. With Democrats and Republicans still in the room, Trump said that the document didn’t represent all of his positions, that he wasn’t familiar with its contents and that he didn’t appreciate being caught off-guard. He instructed the group to disregard the summary and move on, according to one of the lawmakers in the room, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation. “I’m looking for something that President Trump supports,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in public frustration at one point late in the negotiations. “And he’s not yet indicated what measure he’s willing to sign.”

Shutdown is "good thing for us" politically, Eric Trump says on Fox News cbsn.ws/2BhWpUy INSIDE THE HOUSE DEM CAUCUS: Two House Democrats say @senatordurbin — who is huddling with them this AM — said he and McConnell were negotiating positively last night when McConnell got a call from @speakerryan, returned and said all bets are off. .@repraulgrijalva confirms account of what Durbin told members: “They were close to a deal and then Ryan made a call and didn’t want anything on immigration.”

Shutdown likely to end today but...
NYT: “... one thing was clear to both sides of the negotiations to end it: The president was either unwilling or unable to articulate the immigration policy he wanted, much less understand the nuances of what it would involve.”
Uninformed and too lazy to learn... Rinse wash repeat..

Area man trumpeting about protection of life thinks funding children's health insurance is "flinching" and a political loss.
