Maybe no player had more of a breakout week at Slam Dunk to the Beach than David Beatty. The 6-foot-4 guard showed some ability to play point guard and also kept within himself as a power wing with athleticism. Beatty had 23 points to lead the Gray Bees to a big win, and hit 3-7 from deep which has always been his question mark in the past. Beatty is making great strides and had an impressive showing on Tuesday. _________
Just a tough and physical wing, David Beatty made plays all over for St. Benedict’s in their big win. Beatty got to the rim seemingly at will, and then used his strength and athleticism to finish despite the presence of shot blockers. Beatty has an elite motor, and used it well. It was a good showing for him, and he proved to be one of the best players on the court in a game with a lot of stars.

"And as a result of my transfer to St. Benedict's my recruiting has really picked up. New schools like UCLA, Arizona State, Villanova and Georgetown are really showing interest in me being a part of their program."

avid Beatty On the Scene The first thing you think of when you think of New Jersey and New York guards is their toughness off the bounce. Beatty sure showed that razzle dazzle feel when he was isolated on the wing, but he also made some great plays off the bounce. Beatty has a sturdy frame and confidence that bleeds through his team. His shot selection needs some fine tuning, but he has the feel of a kid whose recruitment will be that of a Top 100 player. Today Beatty finished with 20 points and 4 assists. www.phenomhoopreport.com/news_article/show/600278?referrer_id=1590777

9. David Beatty, PG/SG, Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict’s (2017) Where he’s going: He has offers from Georgetown, Kansas State, Sienna, Penn State, South Carolina, Iona, Miami, St. Joseph’s, VCU, Memphis, Seton Hall and La Salle. What he did: A combo guard, Beatty wields a picturesque and accurate jump shot with range to 23 feet. He’s got good size at 6-foot-3 and is already pretty well built. A native of Philadelphia, his toughness can’t be questioned. He made five three-point jumpers while scoring 20 points and handing out four assists. basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/hoophall-top-performers

Going against Huntington Prep it was obviously going to be a great challenge for Beatty. At 6-foot-3 Beatty would face the challenge of tough and athletic guards, and he continued where he has left off all season and really showed how impressive he is a player. Beatty finished with 18 points and did it in a variety of ways. He scored going to the rim, he hit from three, and also hit in the mid-range. On top of that Beatty is a very tough player who brings that Philadelphia basketball mindset to the court every single time. Now at St. Benedict’s he has really stepped up his game and high-major schools are beginning to make him a major priority recruit. At this point Beatty isn’t super focused on his recruitment, but he did note that Georgetown is showing him a significant amount of attention. The Hoyas are looking to bring in a big 2017 class, and guards are going to be very important. Beatty appears to be a major focus right now for the Hoyas. www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1642471-primetime-shootout-david-beatty

Type of player recruiting is changing for JTIII. Good looking player. Yes, but the only problem is that we are always, it seems playing catch up. I think we need a "the way college basketball has evolved" kind of guy on our coaching staff to add another point of view to the coach.

I think he is the type of player we have been after for awhile, very skilled. He just happens to have a pro body now.

Type of player recruiting is changing for JTIII. Good looking player. How is this different from, say, Jagan Mosely (pro body combo guard) or LJ Peak or Jabril? A strong-willed combo guard. actually seems like a classic JTIII player (and a type that's done well and fans have loved).
