Exactly one year ago, April 20, 2004, members of the GU community and basketball program gathered in the Healy Building for this historic event, which can be watched again in its glory at .
I want to take this opportunity to thank Coach Thompson, his assistant coaches, and the support staff again for a great year of Georgetown basketball. Although we have higher goals in mind in terms of postseason play moving forward, this past season represented a GREAT leap forward from where we were expected to land at the end of the season and where we had landed in seasons past. The players respect the coaching staff and have shown their ability to adjust to what is ultimately a challenging system in the PrinceTown offense. Regardless, most every day was a step forward, and, for that, they all deserve our thanks and appreciation. Georgetown is Georgetown again.
Anyway, I won't wax too poetic in this one. To a productive offseason and many more years of success and Georgetown basketball!

I'd like to thank JT III and staff as well for coming in and giving everything they have to restore our proud program to its former glory.
This year was a great start, and JT III and the team helped remind everyone that WE ARE GEORGETOWN and that we will be back at an elite level very soon.
I'm so thankful that we have JT III as our coach and we are truly lucky in that regard. Not many programs are fortunate enough to have a coach that is so dedicated to his work, so familiar with the tradition of the university they represent, and so well respected among his peers. I have no doubt that JT III and staff will return us to the level we all expect Georgetown Basketball to be at, and its gonna be a great ride.
Here here. Also 1 year ago, I snuck into Healy and watched the press conference live. I knew from the start that once I heard "We are Georgetown", we'd be in for a hell of a ride.
Step 2: The Revival.
"The crownless again shall be King" -LOTR, Return of the King
Proudly loud, supportive and "obnoxious" since 1993.
What a difference a year makes!!!!!! The future's so bright...
There’s a saying in the college basketball world that teams play like the coaches that lead them. This will be true of Georgetown under Cooley’s staff as well. “Discipline is a staple. Toughness, energy, connection, and enthusiasm. Those things will also be staples of our organization,” he said.

For those who were around at the time, was the first anniversary of Esherick's hiring even mentioned in the press/on the board/at the top of hoyasaxa.com?
I'm inclined to think it probably wasn't, and that's probably the norm for most coaching hires. The fact that people want to acknowlege the anniversary of JT3's hiring via this thread demonstrates what a great job he has done with the program. Keep up the good work, coach.
I think it wasn't acknowleged, but it was acknowledged as the one-year anniversary of JT LEAVING.
Let's face it, in Georgetown history the anniversary of Esherick being named head coach is a bit like asking someone "Where were you when LBJ became president?"
