Not surprised...but sorry for both of them. Jabril gave us every ounce of energy he had.

Based on what posters and commentators were saying for the past 2 years, Josh Smith with his size and ability to score around the rim was a shoe in to make the NBA. What chances do you give Josh Smith now of making an NBA team?

Josh Smith was a gamble that didn't pay off. He's disappointed everywhere he's been the last few years. Probably a guy that's not all there mentally (don't know if there's a PC way to put that, but his actions would seem to indicate such). I think JT3 took Smith once Otto left early, hoping to salvage something out of what was originally a great 2011 recruiting class (Porter, Whittington, Hopkins, Trawick, Adams). The poor recruiting in the two years after that class motivated JT3 to gamble on Smith. If he could have gotten Smith into the pros, it would have been a huge feather in JT3's cap. Alas, Georgetown/JT3 didn't do anything more for Smith than UCLA/Howland did. Probably not a huge surprise, but certainly disappointing.
As for Trawick, he'd have been a better candidate for the NFL combine than the NBA combine. A decent college player who improved over the years and was a good teammate, there's a lot to like about Jabril as a person. However, he doesn't have NBA size or skills. I really think he should consider taking a shot at football, where his physique, motor and attitude would likely play very well.

Someone should tell him to give Antonio gates a ringy dingy

Are you surprised that Josh Smith did not get an invite to the combine?

I doubt that, but . . . did posters, as well as commentators, discuss Josh's POTENTIAL to play in the NBA? Of course. His size and his offensive skills = potential. But you specifically used the term "shoe-in". An entirely different concept. If you can refer me to posters who made that specific claim, I will retract my response. Otherwise it was valid.
