There were even rumors that Amaker had jumped into the fray and started recruiting you. Seriously though, great to hear from you and next year should be really awesome. Good luck with the rest of your senior year and enjoy yourself.

The class of 2009 is looking like a good one. We're bringing in some very high quality recruits. These guys are really highly ranked too, I've got my own sources for these kinds of rankings (FLHoya is a trained scout and after he searches the country he reports back his findings. We're still trying to contact some kids from that Bishop Ireton-Paul VI game ;D). We're looking at a top 10 class in student fans this year.
Look for the student section to only get stronger and stronger over the coming years.

Look for the student section to only get stronger and stronger over the coming years. The B.I. kid with the plastic snowman...I mean it's between us and the Washington Psychiatric Hospital at this point. I like our chances, I think (as another thread pointed out) Georgetown has the advantage in the attractive co-eds department here. Two good ways to start going down the "crazy fan" path, Jimmy and Caddy: 1. Buy a blue wig--the stupider looking the better. 2. Otherwise, get a really crazy hairstyle that you can just throw blue dye into. You know, 007's a great fan. But I really thought his "game" was limited in its versatility early on this year--just the same face paint and wig combo. He's sort of like Roy Hibbert--he's young, the talent's there, but when Roy gets that ball in the low post, you know the interior move right away. Roy's always going to turn and flip--007's always putting "GU" on his face. But then...like Roy Hibbert miraculously discovering the running sky hook at the Notre Dame game, 007 broke out the new hairstyle--I call it the "Kurmullet"--and everything changed. Now, Roy's got a legit interior post move and outside post move. And now, 007's all business in the front, all party in the back. Roy can back you down or take you across the lane. 007 can throw on the Troll Doll wig, or run streaks of grey and blue through the not-quite-Billy-Ray-Cyrus thing he's got going. So again, this proves that anyone who says the Georgetown program doesn't develop its "players" from their freshman year is full of crap. And that laughing at 007 is not that hard. ;D Have a great end of your Senior year of course you two. Make sure to do about 3-4 things that will scare/anger your parents when they find out...and 10 things they won't find out about. And...uh...any of you write good game recaps? At some point I've got to let go of the 6th year senior thing.

Caddy - don't be like some morons on this board who will remain nameless (*cough*..... uh... me?.... *cough*) and do anything incredibly stupid between now and high school graduation and jeopardize your ability to get that stupid high school diploma... which you apparently need to go to an accredited university?!

I attended the GAAP festivities today and nobody said anything about the basketball program, or athletics in general. I figured that it might come up during the student panel talked about students' social life at georgetown, but still nothing was mentioned. I asked though about school spirit and they briefly mentioned Hoya Blue, but overall, but the basketball team didn't seem to be of much important to the group. Maybe it was just the students on the panel. One seemed to sorta be interested and readily admitted that this wasn't "Ohio St. with 50,000 students, so you can't expect a stadium full", but I was still sorta disappointed that nobody from any position or any age talked about it. We are student recruits, not PE, Jr. or Vernon Macklin, but still....there was no mention of the athletic department in any way shape or from during my 9 hours at the school today, 'cept for my question... I've got to imagine that Duke talks about it's basketball, Hopkins about it's lacrosse, Syracuse about the Carrier Dome, Notre Dame and BC both make readily available their student section shirts and overall programs, and I know GW always brags about it's lack of a football team (undefeated since 1879 or whatever!) and semi-successful hoops squad....obviously current students care to some degree, and I'm sure some prospective students care as well...

A reinvigorated (maybe I should just say invigorated?) HoyaBlue needs to filll that void. All these freshman and transfers are coming into a situation that will be scary and intimidating for many of them. Sports is all about group affiliation, and we need to get to these kids while they're at their most vulnerable..err...teachable. Otherwise they may do something stupid like write for the Voice or pledge the business frat! In all seriousness, I'd like to see Hoya Blue play a role in the GAAP, starting to instill a little sense of pride and offering a peek at the excitement (and community) that Hoya fan-dom can provide.

Great idea and one that I hadn't thought of before. Unfortunately, HB is a season organization that goes into hibernation from March through September, barring an event here or there.

I volunteered at GAAP weekends every year I was at GU. I always made it a point to where one of the I Bleed Hoya Blue shirts to the SFS Academic Panels when I did them, and I always tried to talk about the basketball team even though it didn't really fit. Anything helps! The GAAP folks would absolutely go for letting Hoya Blue or the equivalent do something at their weekends. They should try it--students (and their parents) always have nice things to say about GAAP weekends and they really are impressionable.
