Practicing perimeter shots vs Kaleb, Peak and White is just what the shooting doctor ordered for Reggie! It'll clear up space in the storage closet too because they won't be needing J-Wall's brooms any longer. Mama Wallace will be glad she can have those back.

Ike has put on a good amount of bulk. I'm glad it wasn't just me seeing that through Blue-and-Gray-colored glasses.

Ike has put on a good amount of bulk. Just was poking through Pomeroy's expanded individual stats. Thought this was interesting: in conference games, Ike was our best defensive rebounder at 20.6% -- good for 6th best in the conference. With some additional mass, that could really be a big strength of his game this year.

City of Basketball has Butler last in the league. Nobody else has them below 4th (see the CBS piece for the poll of ranks). That is some kind of statistical deviation!

It's premium content so I won't post a link, but ESPN has Derrickson as number one on its list of freshmen who will outplay their recruiting rank. The short blurb focuses on his shooting ability and the effort he has put into getting in great shape.

The short blurb focuses on his shooting ability and the effort he has put into getting in great shape. Historically a wide-bodied big man with an inside-out skill set, Derrickson made an incredible commitment to his conditioning during his senior year at Brewster Academy and throughout the summer, which resulted in him losing 40 pounds. While his conditioning always limited his impact, and consequently his ranking, now that he’s in the best shape of his life there’s no denying he’s prepared to make a quick impact for Georgetown. “I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever had a person make that type of transformation in high school,” Georgetown head coach John Thompson III said at Big East media day. “He’s just a totally different person and that gets you excited as a coach.” Just how impactful might Derrickson be? He was Georgetown’s leading scorer through their four-game foreign tour through Italy this summer.

He'll either be a tweener bust (too small and short for power forward and too slow for small forward) or UNLV/Grand Ma Ma Larry Johnson caliber player with an automatic 3pt shot. No in between. Incredibly high upside but also a low floor. With tweeners/matchup nightmares these things can sometimes be hard to predict till they actually play conference games but I think he's done everything possible to prepare to be the best he can be.
