I am a believer that it takes about 2 months to get anyone in decent shape. My idea for DeAndre would be to get him on the treadmill and in the weight room in July. Keep him running and keep him lifting until the fat goes away. He could easily slim down to 260-270, as he had done so earlier in the season.

galindo is not coming here. galindo's scholly went to moody. he is looking at schools in flordia. it appears that florida atlantic is the front runner. this kid obviously doesnt care about playin for a big time program. he will play anywhere.

I wouldnt say that he'll play anywhere. He is looking at schools in Florida because of the close proximity to his home, Puerto Rico.

i understand what you are saying i think i was not clear. i meant that he would play for a small school if it worked for him. also you are right that he is going to be playing school in florida, 99 percent chance that he plays in that state.

He said in the article he just completed a visit to Gtown. Anyone who lives on campus remember seeing a 6'7" 280 lb baby faced kid on campus? Seems he would have been hard to miss.

I did, but I couldn't get a good read on his size because my vision is not great even without wheat beverages. Patrick Ewing visited on the same weekend.

Yeah, I saw him in the caf with Pat Ewing Jr., Jeff, Jon, and Tyler. He was wearing a Walt Frazier Knicks throwback, which I liked (not that most guys care cause its about style, but its kind of ironic cause he's from Chicago and theres that big New York-Chicago basketball rivalry)

Take the man! If you find a big guy that can play, take him. They are really hard to find. Believe me. The weight problem can be overcome.
A big guy with attitude and a feel for the game is very rare.
Again, take him. We are in no position to be turning down anybody that can play.
He may be six-six, six-seven or six-eight. I think height can be overrated. If he has quick feet, good hands, good timing and an agressive attitude, then you've got you something special.

i say we have to take him. we can't be picky when it comes to size. we had nothing behind roy and jeff. hopefully, either this kid or nelly steps up next season. i don't buy the 'too out of shape to contribute' stuff. the kid just played a full season of high school. a good summer playing with the guys and some 'inspiration' by jt3 and i think we might have a steal on our hands.

My 2 cents -
1) It is incredible that after not being able to keep a team together in recent years (transfers, drafts, etc.) that we have a number of very talented players in next year's class and the potential to add PEJr. and Thomas shows how far the program has come to rebuilding in only one year of JTIII.
2) I agree with NY's analysis that a talented big man with a chip on his shoulder is probably the sort of spark that we need. I also think that the Princetown offense is based upon a strong center that forces teams to open lanes for the backdoor. I think that Thomas and PEJr. have the potential to be those kind of players - to say nothing of the incredible skills set of Jeff Green and the rapid improvement of Roy.

I say it will be a mistake if we take this kid. Its the same thing with Brandon Rush. I don't care what Rivals think. They have no clue on how to evaluate talent. They just get paid to say hogwash. Anyway, from what I hear and what I have seen the kid is not that good. Taking just anybody who is 6'6" and 280 pounds is not the way to go. If the kid was that good, other schools would want him. I'd rather just skip out on him and wait till next year if we can't find a legitimate inside big man when more schollies are available and sign some big men who are Big East caliber.

I don't care what Rivals think??? There has been no mention of Rivals in this entire thread other than, I asked if Rivals had the correct height and weight for Thomas. Also have you bothered to look at Rivals? They don't even have him ranked in the top 150 for 2005 and have him ranked as #40 for PF's and only a 3 star recruit. You make it sound like they have this kid as a top 20 recruit. Actually your post sounds more like you would agree with the "hogwash" Rivals ranking.
