nypost.com/sports/44572.htmWell, he doesn't say no. How about John Thompson as coach of the Knicks? Thankless job, I know, but if anyone could scare Marbury and co. into playing hard, team ball, it'd have to be JTII. There are already two Hoyas on the roster - I'm sure he could gather a few more from around the league. JT coaching Knicks - that'd be so sweet. He must have gotten offers from the NBA over the years. Did he ever express interest in the past? There's also a question about whether he thinks about the 1985 game. He says no, but given how strenously he says it, I'd have to say what he really meant is "Yes."

JT2 has been asked this before, and he gives the same response. JT2 is a business man. You never say never. JT2 doesn't want to coach anymore. He is enjoying his life.

IF (and that's a bif if) he went back, would he hire Esh as his assistant?

In the roughly seven seasons since he left the GU bench, I can only imagine how many positions have been offered to JT. Why would he now choose to come back to the league when its arguably at its lowest point in decades, on a franchise with immense cap problems, coaching a team with a bunch of gunners and no hope of even sniffing the conference finals?
If he took the job, I'd be stunned, frankly.
Of course, the_way DOES point out that he is a business... man. But we should never say never. But he doesn't want to coach anymore. WHICH IS IT?!

IF (and that's a bif if) he went back, would he hire Esh as his assistant? Without a doubt and Esh would happily oblige. Ronny Thompson, Mike Riley, and Ed Spriggs would be the other assistants. Jaren Jackson would be academic advisor.

Go Knicks! There has to be room for Chuck Driesell and Chip Simms on the bench too!
