Hey guys! Over on the MU board (and Holy Land of Hoops forum), I post a weekly conference tournament bracket each Sunday. Obviously there is a month left in the regular season so plenty of time for things to shake up, but regardless I think it's fun to keep an eye on it weekly. If I remember, I'll be sure to post this over here as well going forward. Movement since last Sunday: Butler: +2 Xavier: +1 DePaul: +1 Georgetown: -2 Seton Hall: -2

I'd much prefer that we switch places with Butler and Xavier Switches places with Xavier. St. John's.

Here we go, down to the final week. I'll probably do one final bracket after the games on Wednesday. After that, the final games are on Saturday and the bracket will be final at that time. Movement since last Sunday: Butler +2 St. John's +1 Seton Hall +1 Creighton +1 Xavier -1 DePaul -1 Marquette -1 Georgetown -2

So we should be back in the 3 spot. Would love to get the 2 and the bye. Avoiding Nova and Xavier until the final. Either way we will have to exorcise our Xavier/Provy demons.

I believe we are in 2nd currently as we hold the tie breaker with Butler and Providence is one game back. However if Providence beats Seton Hall tomorrow then we are in 3rd with Butler in 4th going into Saturday. In summary if Wed Sat Providence wins we are at best 3rd. If Providence loses a game and we win at Seton Hall then we should be second. If we lose against Seton Hall we could still drop to 4th or 5th depending on St. Johns and tie breakers.

So, here are the scenarios where we finish 11-7. I think we are locked into the #4 seed at worst. 1. Any scenario where PC beats Butler--we finish no worse than 4th behind SJU and PC because Butler has 8 losses. Same with any scenario where SJU loses another game or PC loses out, as that would leave the 5th place team with 8 losses. 2. A 4 way tie at 11-7 (Butler beats PC, PC beats MU, SJU wins out). This is one is fun. Mini conference records: PC: 3-3 (Wins: GUx2, Butler; Losses: SJUx2, Butler) Butler: 3-3 (Wins: SJUx2, PC; Losses: GUx2, PC) Georgetown: 3-3 (Wins: Butlerx2, SJU; Losses: PCx2, SJU St. John's: 3-3 (Wins: PCx2, GU; Losses: Butlerx2, GU) I think you then look at the record versus Villanova, which would give SJU and us the advantage at 1-1. I think you would then split out us and SJU and go to the two team tiebreakers. We tied head to head, and would each be 1-1 against Nova, which would mean going to the next group below Nova, which is PC & Butler, which provides no advantage (both teams are 2-2 against those teams), followed by looking at records v Xavier, which is when SJU would get the 2 seed and we would get the 3 seed. Butler would get the 4 seed b/c they beat SJU and PC would get the 5 seed. grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/bige/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/2014-15/misc_non_event/MBB_Tiebreakers.pdf

They are 11-6 after the game tonight and have only one game left (against PC on Saturday).

Butler cant have 8 losses. And if Butler beats PC, then Butler is 12-6, not 11-7. We can still be 5th if Butler goes 1-0, PC goes 1-1, SJU goes 2-0 and we lose to the Hall. Your scenario could happen if Butler goes 0-1, PC goes 1-1 (ie loses to SHU), SJU goes 2-0 and the Hoyas lose.

Yeah, agree with Johnny. Unfortunately we can still be 5th, but SJU would have to beat Nova, PC would have to lose, and we would have to lose to SHU. That better not happen..
