I thought the staff was lazy and did not evaluate enough players??? I thought the staff was better off waiting until spring to finish recruiting for 2017, after all the players in the spring are probably better options right? But I'm proud of the staff for getting out there some..

Spring is fine with me...just the notion that they have not signed any players so far this year because they are somehow sitting on their butts is an absurd lie. They work as hard as anyone. Pander less perhaps...but work plenty hard.

All due respect here. Fair point- I am not on the road with these guys! But clearly they are all over the place evaluating prospects. They nabbed Mosely right before the high majors started knocking, and won the battle for Mulmore by getting in early. Those are just two recent examples; overall, I think III and his various staffs have a well-deserved reputation as professional and dedicated recruiters. I do NOT think the Hoyas are losing out on recruits because of any apathy by the staff. Just my humble opinion.

I think the staff works very hard, we see plenty of posts/tweets about the many trips to watch multiple kids on multiple occasions. As I see it, the issue becomes whether we work smart, and whether we accurately assess our chances of success.
Let's try an analogy the vast majority of us can relate to. The prom is 3 months away. I am, in reality, a 6 or 7 on the scale. What do I do? There is nothing wrong with asking out a few 10's and 9's, with the hope that my sense of humor, my wit, my sincerity are qualities they are looking for. But if I spend 2 1/2 months focusing all my time and attention on those first class stars and ignore the more realistic opportunities at my level(that one is cute, but has that little mole on the left cheek; that other one seems pretty nice, but I heard has belonged to 3 different scout troops in the last 3 years), I may find the field whittled to the 3's and 4's. There might be a real gem at that level, a perfect match for me - but the odds are against me.

The closely related issue, of course, is whether you honestly assess yourself as a 6 or 7, and focus your targets accordingly; you may have been a 9 or even a 10 in junior high, but you have to realize that the braces and the acne knock you down a few levels to the rest of the world.

Until we win, we aren't going to be anything above a 6 or 7, if that. It's just the reality.

He has visits set to Maryland (Oct. 1), Florida (Oct 15) and Indiana (Oct. 22). He also plans to see Louisville at some point.
"The first time I met with coach [Pitino] was right here the first Wednesday of the school year," Brown said. "He said that he liked the way I developed footwork-wise. He sees me contributing big-time into their offense. He likes the way I can push the ball up the court not only be back-to-the-basket, but operate outside of what the usual big man does. And he realizes that the game is changing and he has big men that have the same body style as me, long and lanky. He focuses mainly on development and developing players, and getting them ready for the next level."
Asked what it meant that Pitino took a private jet to see him, Brown said: "It's just amazing. I really didn't expect to blossom so quickly, but I was just tired of being the average big man. I was just in the gym. I didn't want to be the average big man coming out of New York, I wanted to be special so I continue to be in the gym and I feel like I deserve it."
Kansas assistant Norm Roberts was at Molloy last week and extended an offer.
"Kansas, they were like one of the first big-time schools to be in contact with me," Brown said. "Them and Maryland. They finally offered me last week. Coach Norm Roberts said I had the best summer possible. He felt like I made up for everything I missed out on last summer following the injury [fractured tibia]. He likes my toughness. He likes that I'm stronger than I actually look, I play hard and I match my opponent's intensity."
Maryland has also been involved and head coach Mark Turgeon was in the gym this week.
"They've been here twice actually," Brown said. "They came first day of school and then Coach Turgeon came Tuesday. He just was talking to me about how I'm doing outside of school. With them, it's not only basketball. They say I'm their No. 1 priority, they want to get me back on campus to show me some love."
St. John's is also involved and Brown has worked out their several times.
"St. John's, I actually like St. John's," he said. "I was in there two weeks before school started. I was in there to workout, they let me use the gym. They said I could go anytime to put up shots, me and my father, so that's just a blessing, I could use the gym any time I want."
Georgetown is among the other schools involved, and Moses' father told me last week he likes their history of producing big men.
"I love Georgetown, it's a big-man school," Malcolm Brown said. "They basically said they were trying to build a team around him. They didn't realize he has the post skills that he has."
Too bad the kid didn't speak about Gtown himself, all well & good that Pops is a fan but he's not the one that matters..

That's not necessarily true. Sometimes the dad has all the say. Kyle Anderson wanted to go to Seton Hall but his dad had him go to UCLA. It's obviously better to have someone on our side rather than no one.

Could be as simple as those were the teams the interviewer asked him about so he responded. I wouldn't read to much into it other than pops thinks it's a good fit without seeing the interview..

It's obviously better to have someone on our side rather than no one. It doesn't look to be the case with Moses, hope I'm wrong but right now it seems that there are programs the kids likes better.. He's visiting Maryland Oct. 1st so maybe JT3 can get the family to stop by Gtown while they're in the area..
