I think the kid made the right decision and the time he took showed a lot of thought was put into it. Maryland might have been the more glamarous pick, but what's better for your development, going to a place where you are one of 4 or 5 talented guys at your position or going somewhere that you are the guy and staff will live with your ups and downs? A raw kid like this needs playing time and a staff willing to show patience with him.

"He picked them because he felt like he could go in there and contribute immediately," Myers told Scout. "Playing time along with location was the determining the factor for him.

This does not make them contenders to win the Big East, but should help make them even more competitive in all of their games. They needed scoring and this kid looks to provide that for them. Will be interesting to see who the lead recruiter for him was, and how they closed the deal. Maybe some of these guys on the staff can recruit after all!!!!!!

We need to reach out to him ASAP! He's been heavily rumored to Maryland for over a month once he got his release. I'd be stunned if he doesn't end up there. I've never been so happy to be so wrong. I have a lot of gloating to do to some people who are shell-shocked - pun intended - right now. Awesome job by the staff. We needed this.

I am embarrassingly called us a black sheep the other day and i take back my foolish comment and could not be happier. What a win for this staff.
I think the posters saying they were wrong about this kid, were actually dead right a week ago, and staff did an amazing job showing him the opportunity here.

He told Kansas no. Clearly he was sold on being the man. We played the right cards.

If Waheed was the lead on this one then maybe the staff already has that recruiter with strong local ties!!! This a big win for the staff and hopefully builds some momentum going after a big 2018 class!!!

Sounds like this young man had good advice and made a sound decision. Maryland's strength this year are wings and they brought in a top SF and top PF for next year.Whatever time he got this year may well have been decreased next year. Here, he should get major minutes next year and be a team leader as a soph, plus hopefully be part of a revival of GU hoops.
Also, Patrick has done a great job coming in under trying circumstances. An empty cupboard, only one carryover assistant and a very low fan base morale. Keeping Walker, plus Blair, Sodom and now Pickett is a very solid BE class. Looking forward to next year -- playing with house money yet I think we can be a decent and entertaining team.
Plus this puts Tremont Waters fiasco is the rearview mirror at last. I do not blame him for bolting, but LSU? Good luck in the SEC swampland!

Fantastic news!...congrats to him and his family, and welcome aboard...as I said a few pages back, playing time ought to be (and evidently was) the key, along with location...he immediately adds value to this years team and fills a need at both ends of the court...this is an impact and very much needed recruit that hopefully kickstarts efforts for the '18 recruit.

I ventured over to the MD 247 message board after I saw the decommit from Ole Miss.
Saw a thread titled "Jamorko Pickett Celebration Thread" and the comment was "He ain't going to no mid major for some old noob coach. Ours! Love having a future pro coming off our bench next year."
Feels great to win this one. Hoya Saxa
