Anyone besides me wonder why Jay Wright didn't take a timeout or three to try and stop the run we went on in the 1st half? That was just poor coaching. I don't think it would have made much of a difference tonight but still...
A+ to the students today... great enthusiasm. Keep it up!

I think our run just happened so fast that he didn't know what hit him. He probably didn't know what adjustment to make either to Copeland-White in at the same time. I don't think he really ever figured it out in this game. The one big adjustment he made was getting on the refs to call it tighter.

Jabril was awesome today. Hurt gor part of the game, he still managed to score 10 efficiently, but the highlight was 4 steals and 2 blocks for me.

Paul White was a hidden gem as well. Nine points on three shots. Monster 3 to slow Nova down. Some nice defense as well.

I kept thinking and talking about how the team that we've seen this season is 80% of the way to being a really good team. The first half, they played like they were 100% of the way there & even beyond. Great team performance with very balanced scoring. The early second half, with foul after foul, was more like what I was expecting from this game. Every time Nova threatened, though, the players responded and then they finished the game strong to keep the margin at 20.

We went on a 17-0 at one point in the first half, or something similar according to the announcers. I feel like a good portion of the run was with a line up with White and Copeland in. I think DSR, Bowen, White, Copeland, Smith. Does anyone have the ability to check that and/or figure out the numbers for the DSR, Bowen, White, Copeland, Smith line-up? I thought it was our best line-up of the night and we never went back to it. Also I think everyone complaining about the court storming, including III, needs to relax. Students being so excited about a game that they storm the court isn't negative in any way, shape or form. If the students and fans are that excited about the game they can storm the court if we beat Depaul for all I care. The mentality of "act like you've been there before" is applicable to players but kind of silly when applied to fans. Let them create a fun and engaged home atmosphere, who cares if it comes off as lame or uncool to 5% of college basketball fans not associated with Georgetown who will care? I'll be able to do it Thursday at the earliest.

To quote a famous Hoya sage, Wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowo.
Great win, terrific play by just about everyone.
The officiating stank. And not just against us. The constant stream of touch fouls (if that) in the second half was nauseating.

What a great weekend to come back to DC. Students showed up today and a decent number were stuck up in the 400s. They rushed the court but they have nothing to hang their hat on do why not. Safety issues were never a concern.
Ike is the man. So happy and can't say enough. He was awesome.
Defense, defense, and more defense. That's what I'm talking about! Hell yeah.
How did Jabril get knocked in the face but No review. I mean at least look at it. And while I'm on the refs how do you go from the first half of no calls to the atrocity of the start of the second. I mean that was the worst inconsistency I've seen.
So many positives from this game and so little negatives.

great performance all around. the freshman are playing with great confidence and the upperclassmen are playing with an attitude straight from the leader jabril. big game saturday at marquette. they will zone all game but the hoyas are the better team and they have to get this road win. bring the same intensity that we saw the last 22 minutes of the butler game and last night boys.

The defense was all around outstanding last night.
Only 11 turnovers.
Great transition offense.
Calm, assured press break.
Crowd was great.
Officiating maddeningly uneven as it has been in most BE games this season.
We were on the wrong side of the arena to see what happened on the play where Jabril got a hand in his eye. It was a worrisome injury because he was playing so well on both sides of the ball.
Copeland is just starting to scratch the surface and that is incredibly exciting.

Can't sat enough about the defense in the first half. Nova was quick but we stayed in front and stayed active. The refs let them play and this played to our favor in the first half. Defense was great.

Forgot to note that the Hoyas completely controlled the game tempo which is often a problem against Villanova.

That was a nice win. Really helps the tourney resume. JTIII has always been more comfortable as the underdog and his teams always seem to save a special intensity for big games. Wish he could get that defensive effort consistently. Isaac Copeland really coming on after doing nothing in the non-conference. Great to see and feeds my hope that at worst this year can be our 2005 on the way to 2006-2008.
Will now have to try to get 2nd ever Milwaukee win on Saturday if we want to re-enter the top 25. It will not be easy. Honestly I’ll be more impressed if they win at Marquette than by last night’s win. Hard for me to see Villanova on the jersey and remember their tournament bow-out last year and think "oh yeah, this is a top 5 team", but even if they are, as a rivalry home game I had this one pencilled in as a good shot at a W, and moreover Nova's stubborn refusal to go to a zone defense is bewildering.
Most importantly, tonight maintains what I think should be the conference goal of going 9-0 at home and at least 4-5 on the road. We have now beaten arguably the league's other two best teams (Nova and Butler) by holding serve at home, so the hard part at Verizon one could say is over. If we make it 4 straight overall and pick up the road victory on Saturday in a building we've only won in 1 time ever (2008 in overtime), then we’ll really be rolling, we’ll hit the Top 25 on Monday, and it will be time to start thinking about whether we can compete for the conference championship. On the other hand, if we can't win there, it is hard for me to identify the 3 of 5 remaining road games (Creighton's sellout crowds, Butler, Villanova, Seton Hall, St. Johns) where we're going to win.
Onward and upward.

At one point in the 2nd half, when peak picked up a foul late in the game and sent nova to the line, Jabril pulled LJ aside and imparted some wisdom. Jabril has grown a lot and love that he's passing it on to the youngins. He's filling the leadership void that was left with Markel.

My wife (not generally a Hoya watcher) raised the question after watching the game and seeing Joshua: Does he have a future as an NFL lineman? Obviously, his goal is making things work in the NBA or professionally otherwise, but it does seem as though he has the skill set (lots of height, girth in ample supply, high-end athletic ability and intelligence for his size, and very quick feet for his size). Obviously, there's been a glut of NCAA fours that turn into top-end TEs in the league.

I expect the Villanova message boards have already posted a "At what point does Jay Wright's seat get warm..." thread.
It was great to see what this team can do when all cylinders are firing. Restored my confidence in regards to their ceiling, which is as one of the top 5 teams in the country. I'd like to see more consistency which the upcoming Marquette game should answer.
Isaac Copeland...wow. What a talent.
