www.thehoya.com/news/040805/news1.cfmI am surprised that this didn't get any play yet. If you look closely at the picture, one notices a track on the current Kehoe site and a baseball field in the southwest corner of campus. Discuss.

At one point the lower corner of the McD parking lot was envisioned as a softball field by some designs, but the University didn't sign off on it.
It is not large enough to host a baseball field.

This, to me, is a great sign for three (well, four) things (all of which are - I think - reasonable assumptions):
1) finally have full approval for the boathouse from the BZA - now just have to get past the environmentalists and such?
2) approval of any MSF-related issues?
3) acceptance of the new b-school and science building?
Note that at the bottom it says things not COMPLETED by 2010 will likely have to be resubmitted. I don't buy it - whatever projects we have started by 2010 (and I mean really started, not just in the planning stages) will get through... so lets put some shovels in the ground for the b-school, science building, and Phases 2 - 74 of the MSF to finish this all off. 'Cause what's left after that?
McD's.

I assume that plan was scrapped once someone informed the administration Georgetown has no softball team.

These ANC people are insane. You moved to G'town. It has been there for hundreds of years! I know this argument always happens, but you don't see the same type of friction around Catholic & Howard because the residents don't have the means & time to deal with this stupid stuff. These rich G'towners need to get a life.

Do many people complain about GW's "uh huh...uh huh...so how much do you want for that building?" practices?

Do many people complain about GW's "uh huh...uh huh...so how much do you want for that building?" practices? Yes, emphatically yes. However, three points to consider: A) They practice a much more confrontational approach in regards to their neighbors. Risking suits and not trying to placate when they don't have to. A fair amount of fait-accompli. B) They are dealing with a much less organized neighborhood that is much more commercially zoned...hence less opinionated about new academic buildings etc. C) Their brash expansion actually might be some of the motivation behind the staunch Georgetown resistence. Many residents of GU live over on the Foggy Bottom border and have seen the rampant expansion of GW...their only outlet is to lobby within the GU neighborhood committee. Also, the fear amongst other residents that a GW type expansion could occur probably fuels much of the resistence of other neighbors.
