I hope he is closer to Monte Ellis than Jerry Nichols.

I like the idea of a super quick guard, even if he's short for the position. And with our ability to recruit 6'9 3/4s, we should have the length necessary to prevent his size from hurting us too much on defense.
That and it'd be fun to have the two fastest guys on the court (him & Tre)

Former Gulfport guard/Dandy Dozen Jahshire Hardnett will take an official visit to Georgetown next Thursday. #MSPreps

It wouldn't be HoyaTalk if POD didn't bring his cloud of negativity.

It's more about being a guy that pops up later in the process, as opposed to being a guy on Hoyatalk's radar for a year. Otto and Greg Whittington were SRDs too

This is a write up from a game last December where he scored 30.. blog.gulflive.com/mississippi-press-sports/2013/11/basketball_jahshire_hardnett_p.html"(Hardnett) got rolling and we missed some defensive assignments," Pascagoula coach Ron Norman said. "That's what a good experienced team is supposed to do. That kid has been starting since the ninth grade. He got them going and they fed off him, and everybody else made plays."
"(Hardnett's) gotten better and he's become a better shooter and gotten stronger," Gulfport coach Owen Miller said. "We've moved him off the ball and tried to free him up a bit. He came out in the third quarter and made a 3 to get us started, and I thought he took over the game in the second half."Here's another write up from April after scoring 30 in his 1st EYBL game this spring.. He avg's 10.9 on 42% shooting, 31% from 3 and 71% from the line in 16 EYBL games. He avg'd 2.5 assists to 1.8 to's also.. Not bad stats at all imo... www.clarionledger.com/story/recruitingreport/2014/04/30/jahshire-hardnett-underdog-eybl/8512049/The Dandy Dozen guard helped Red Storm to its first victory of the season against Wisconsin's Playground Elite last Saturday, leading all scorers with 30 points on 11 of 12 shooting from the field.
"I was taking really good shots the whole weekend," he said. "I can stay play the one if I need to, but if I have the ball they're just going to pressure me and throw a double team. I like being able to take off from the wing and just go."www.d1circuit.com/roster_players/4852932?subseason=148178

Since I invented the concept of Suhm Randim Dood, I can tell you that it is not a pejorative term. It simply describes the recruit that pops up at the last minute who was under the radar. Sometimes, the Dood will outperform the headline recruit that was lost previously.
Recent examples of Doods are Otto, Vee, and Hayes.
If either were to sign in the wake of the Dozier loss, Robinson or Hardnett would be considered Doods, but it is not negative.

Think the playbook is to land this kid next weekend if possible and then wait for the spring to see what shakes loose/becomes available…

I hope so in the limited video of him around. He can definitely score the ball at any level. It's more playing within a team concept which will be hard for him. Luckily he realized that and transferred to a school to work on that. That's why I made the Monte Ellis comparison. Jahshire looks like he is in attack mode all the time to score but not to distribute.

I will take an athletic ball handler who is in attack mode all the time. There have been so many Hoya teams onto which I have wished I could insert such a player.

I was thinking, say, 1997-2008 or so. No doubt that Peak will be such a player, but I wonder if he has the handle of a lead guard. And we could always use TWO of those guys!!!

Think the playbook is to land this kid next weekend if possible and then wait for the spring to see what shakes loose/becomes available… I think this is right. Hardnett sounds like an intriguing prospect that fills a need. Sign him if we can then sit back and eat popcorn watching coaches get fired and teams lose scholarships or postseason appearances, etc. Never know who might be available this spring.
