Harvey's stock has fallen big time. He's the same player he was in 9th grade. He's talented yes. But the lack of growth and his passive personality are why a lot of high majors backed off him. Duke and Arizona backed off him. The local schools like MD, GT, and UVA never made him a priority.

Was at ND over the weekend for the football game and got to see Morsell scrimmage with the team. The kid definitely looks the part and seemed to fit in there. Would have to think Harvey picking them would only make it more enticing for Morsell. Just a shame we couldn't get a serious look from either guy considering they're both local. For those who say winning isn't everything, it may not be but I promise ya ND going to the Elite 8 in back to back years isn't hurting them Most think it's a Nova-Terps battle. Would have liked to have seen the Hoyas involved. He's really taken off. Late bloomer.

I don't think Georgetown "never made him a priority", seemed much more like the other way around...he dropped interest in us very early in the process.

Yeah he said GTown was one of the schools on hm the most and mentioned a relationship with Broadus then dropped a top ten with us nowhere to be seen...

That was early in his recruitment. He gave the local schools the cold shoulder. But when his stock dropped and he was begging for more looks, the locals didn't attempt to re-enter the picture.
He's going to be a good player. At one point, he looked like a potential superstar. Not anymore.

It's embarrassing that JTIII/Georgetown doesn't even get enough respect to make a local kid's final 16. If Alabama made that list and we didn't, it means A) we put in no work on the kid, and/or B) a Georgetown offer doesn't mean much to local kids anymore. Not getting a local recruits says nothing about the state of the program. Not about not getting the kid, it's about the fact that we don't garner enough respect with local kids and/or didn't put in the requisite work on a local kid to make his top 16, while Alabama and South Carolina made it. That speaks volumes about perception of our program and relationships with local coaches.

Unfortunately we apparently were not relevant enough to be included in that list.

The coaches can put in plenty of work and do a good job, and as others have noted, there are strong indications that they did both here. The recruit decided he was not interested. That has nothing to do with "relevance" or anything related to that. Carolina, State, and Dook are not all over every kid in North Carolina; likewise for myriad other programs. It has nothing to do with "relevance." If by relevant you mean "elite" on a national level, that is a different discussion. Georgetown continues to be very relevant without having had elite performance of late. This recruitment does nothing to refute that.

However, I am trying to follow this thread logically. It seems that the past 2 plus years very few, if any, highly rated HS recruits "want to play at GU." But hoyalove4 does not think this has anything to do with how well our staff is recruiting? Isn't the essence of good recruiting, convincing folks to play at their school? I have no clue what the staff is doing in regards to recruiting, ie working on it 100 hours a week or not at all. However, whatever is being done, is not working, at least at the present time. Can we agree on that?

When I lived in the DMV I wanted to move to Cali, sometimes it's about getting away from home and getting out of the city. I also didn't like the Redskins but that's another story! We need to find the singular cause for these kids not wanting to come to the hilltop and fix or attempt to tackle that problem going forward. If we can't pull these kids in off our own streets maybe we need to start pulling them from other cities and towns and stop kicking ourselves in the backside for the choices of 17 year old's.

If Carolina or Duke offered a kid from NC and pursued that kid AT ALL, they'd make a top 16 list, simply out of respect either for their coaches' effort or their program.

POD is that a reflection of the kid's wants or the amount of work the staff put in? GTown made the final 10 of every other local kid. DJ never really showed any love for GTown. Im not sure what more the staff could have done to change his mind. I felt the same way with JJJ......

Forgotten program? Hyperbole-ize much? What a stupid post. What does an old, frail white lady have to do with DJ Harvey?

Is that even possible? Announcing you are transferring and then returning? Basically saying Mike Brey needs to recruit him back to school.

Not sure if bball rules are the same as football, but with football this is definitely possible. You can enter your name in the transfer portal and then decide to go back and if the school gives you back your scholarship, you are in. Happened with two VT football players this offseason. Sidenote, would take Harvey in a heartbeat.
