i think roy will be good.. the two things he needs are first to get strength.. i think hes got good hands... and has shown he can pass well... but so frequently because of problem two.. and that is a hesistancy to deicide quidkly what to do with the ball... because of those two problems.. he then frequently eiher gets stripped of the ball... or makes a quick but then bad rushed decision.. go roy.. he will be there next year.. hopefully stronger and more decisive ..go hoyas .. see you all at the dinner.. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Those are the two biggest things that Roy needs to work on. I think he needs to play well for us to be successful next year, so here's to a good off-season for him.

OK, I'm a little drunk, so fair warning . . .
Roy!
Dude, I can't believe you guys don't have better things to do than bicker about the semantics (as opposed to the actual STATS) of how good Roy's season was.
Roy Roy Roy!
I'm not gonna list all the things he did well or poorly, or his age, or his height-to-awkwardness ratio, or the metaphysics of his dunking quotient minus the inverse tangent of his off-the-dribble-sky-hook-to-block product.
Roy Roy Roy!
I was really glad to see a guy at Gtown again who was above 7 feet tall and actually showed some promise, and who made me ill less than half the time I saw him play (Cf. Reuben).
Roy Roy Roooooooyyyyy!
I don't know much, but I do know that Roy was one of those players. . . a player who electrified the fans . . . a guy who - no matter what he did in a game (good or bad) we paid attention to with big, wide-open eyes, waiting for something amazing to happen (lest we forget the times something amazing DID happen!) . . . guys, he inspired us to do a student-section, mci-lovin', hoyatalk-board, gtown-fan-nation-wide rewrite of one of the seminal sports songs of all time! so keep arguing semantics and ins and outs if you want, if that floats your boat (though i have deep concerns for the "ladies" in your lives if that does in fact float your boat . .. not judging, just saying). i'd rather celebrate not only what we've got, but what we're looking forward to: a productive dude who's gonna get us excited to be at games and is NOT going to leave us for the NBA.
cheers fellas.

Amen. And just think about this--without Roy, there's no Roy chant, so there's no "Heart of a Hoya", so none of the other songs get written. And really, if he can inspire a grammy nominated, multiplatinum album* like "Whats a Hoya" as a FRESHMAN just think of what he can do as a Sophmore, Juinor and Senior. The possiblities boggle the mind. *album may or may not be grammy nominated or multiplatinum--even if it's not (it might be) it should be.

If a coaching staff member could take Roy aside for only 5 minutes a day to help him develop a hook shot that he could drain consistently, then the Hoyas would be smoking next year. Also, the development of a reliable drive to the basket for a dunk from the top of the key (similar to the one he had versus I don't remember) would not hurt and could be very useful in a Princeton offense.

There's no category for basketball spoofs. Yet. Apparently, Weird Al Yankovic is putting "extreme pressure" on the nominating committe to jealously block this. Speculation shared with me by to anonymous RIAA members (wink, wink, Jessica Simpson, cough cough William Hung ) tell me that there is "no chance in Heck" of a new basketball spoof category until Weird Al retires as a recluse in Bora Bora or gets that "operation in Sweden" he has been coveting.

I feel like I started this by suggesting that Roy had a good year, but not a great one. I tried to qualify by mentioning the potential that he showed but then it seemed like there was some confusion on what qualified as a "good" year.
We don't have to compare him to all of the 7'2 freshman centers, but I do wish I had the time to pull the stats of all of the 6'10 plus freshmen in the major conferences (Big East, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, Pac-10, SEC, Conf USA). Unfortunately, the wife has started the early signs of labor this morning and I don't have the time. Anyone else willing to get that info and post it?

Expect all the freshmen to improve. After a season in the Big East, each knows what he has to work on and they all know they need to get stronger. The coaches will give them specific skills to work on and expect them to lift weights and be gym rats.
Under JTIII and Burke at Princeton, several players made big leaps in ability between freshman and sophomore years.
I think Bowman, Cook, Reed, and other non-freshmen also know what parts of their games that the coaches expect them to improve upon.

so S. Williams, Hankey, Brackman, and M. Williams had as good/better years. Jeeze Roy really sucks now . He may not have been great or even strong consistently but compared to others he wasn't all that bad and with work could become a big impact game. One glaring stat from that list was turnovers, I believe the main reason he has the most is because of our offense but I still think he could improve. He could also use help on footwork, driving, and so on. He wasn't terrible but he wasn't necessarily a good player either. Give him time.(And while some people here believe players shouldn't hit the weights that hard I'm all for Hibbbs becoming a gym rat over the summer, he could use some power).
