Josh has had his struggles this year, but this is recognition by those who follow the game that he is an effective big man.

He seems like a really bright, considerate guy. I love that, as a college senior, he has a big picture, forward-looking perspective that isn't solely focused on basketball.

Should be required viewing for all "adult" fans who might rip this kid for ill-advised fouls. He is clearly a bright, articulate, thoughtful young man who loves his family and Georgetown.

A Pats fan from Seattle! And GU never had Sports Personalities of the 20th and Sociology of Hip Hop, when I was there.

Intelligent young man. Comes across as well-grounded and appreciative of the second chance he has gotten at Georgetown. Great clip!

Just confirms that character is an important trait in our recruiting. I don't think we would have been interested if he were not an upstanding young man at heart.
That said - Josh, we won't think less of you if you develop a little bit of a mean streak for the next 5 or 6 weeks!

Heartless effort.
And then there were 2 regular season games left in his college career.
What is it going to take to light a fire?

When I watch the recent video of Josh, I see a kid that cannot be easily read by watching home the court.

Heartless effort. And then there were 2 regular season games left in his college career. What is it going to take to light a fire? Nothing. Hasn't been lit in 5 year. How do you get your 5th foul pushing some on the free throw after the the ball has went in.

There are nights superstars have to work harder to be better than the other player. Just talent alone does not get it done. Josh has never understood that and that's why he is so inconsistent.

I completely disagree. I don't think its been an effort issue very often this year and it certainly wasn't today. If anything he is trying to do too much defensively. Maybe by "light a fire" you mean "needs to play less aggressive and therefore smarter defense," but I don't see a lack of effort at all.
But even "playing smarter" is harder than it looks. He needs to hedge the screens; he can't just let a point guard run free into the lane. And lots of those times on drives he is literally just trying to get out of the way. Sure the fifth foul was stupid and so are some others, but I really don't think its an effort issue. And as for frustration, well, we haven't seen very much of that from him (this and the scorers table). Some think he should show more, and it does at least show "fire."

By "light a fire" I mean staying committed and having a purpose. Not sure anyone has noticed, but Josh has gained weight again. At UCLA in the off season he would lose weight and gain it back during the season. He's done the same thing this season. With regard to playing with a purpose (AKA playing smart), I understand that there are always questionable calls on him during the course of the game...but an outright shove dead ball foul for his fifth his inexcusable. Disagree all you want....but he's got a couple of games left and he simply cannot play that poorly again.

Markel,Smith's roommate last year, said it best. You just don't know from game to game what you are going to get from Josh. Some days he is motivated and plays like a top ten draft choice. Other days he seems disinterested and plays like it. Today was the latter.

He doesnt need to be more aggressive on offense-- if anything he needs to learn how to avoid contact better and concede the lane or even the hoop when he isnt positioned well or have the best angle to defend. A lot of this is him being committed to his fitness so that he's quicker on the hedges and not too tired to box-out. Unfortunately, I don't trust him either the mental or physical aspects of this right now, although his size and skill means he's always liable to have a 20 point or double-double game. That's just the gamble we have with him at the moment. I am really looking forward to having a guy like Govan who will work very very hard over the course of his career....
