Is he a player that was off the recruiting path like Otto or did he just put it all together? And is it unfair to characterize him by a position ( 1 or a 2 )? Is he better defined as a guard??

Is he a player that was off the recruiting path like Otto or did he just put it all together? And is it unfair to characterize him by a position ( 1 or a 2 )? Is he better defined as a guard?? According to Maxprep he played with Issac Copeland and Devonte Graham last year at Brewster Academy. Prior to his 2013-2014 season at Brewster Academy his sport of choice was baseball. However, he did play some AAU ball with "The City" a New York based team from 2012 til now. Suffering a wrist injury last year playing baseball seems to be the reason behind his late development. nypost.com/2014/07/18/local-hoops-star-garners-college-attention-after-giving-up-baseball/www.thecitybasketball.org/players/45Mitchell.htmlYes, he is a guard by all accounts.

I have to give credit where credit is due, but Jeff Goodman has been saying for a while now that he felt Mitchell was the best prospect on Brewster's squad last season.
He isn't an unknown and has been on the radar of high-major schools since last summer but he really took his game up another level this summer.

Jessie Govan lives only 20mins/10miles from Donovan Mitchell, I'm sure they've probably played against one another at some time. This could be another player to pull him our way.

Deacon I also believe that we've been on him for awhile but I can't seem to find anything to back that claim.

Yaboy posted this tweet back on Oct 9th in the 2015 recruiting thread which is inked on the 1st page of this thread.. Jason Smith @brewsterhoops 14h Kansas and Georgetown are two of the latest schools to express serious interest in Brewster guard @spidadmitchell #KU #Hoyas #Jayhawks
Jason Smith is the head coach @ Brewster..

The baseball team could use Mitchell as well. I wish we got Graham.

Jason Smith is the head coach @ Brewster.. Should have offered earlier though. Hopefully we had been in contact throughout first sign of interest. (although we are due to land a recruit we got in on later)

georgetown.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1664962Georgetown, like Kansas, has a former Brewster Academy teammate of Mitchell's now on the roster. They also have the combination of a strong basketball program and highly respected academics that Mitchell is looking for. "Everyone knows them as a big man school, but for me, I just want to be able to play and have a great education. Georgetown has both. They need guards once some of their guards leave next year. My teammate Isaac Copeland goes there. I feel like I'd be able to come in and produce at the guard spot, maybe even have a better chance to start there than some other places. I feel like that would be a nice place to go play and on top of that receive some of the best education in the country."
