I was kind of hoping for answers similar to those of Gary Williams about Gilchrist. Looks like we will have to wait and see what happens with DO,Wallace, and next year's schedule.
Anyone have any news on those fronts??

Good article, read it today during breakfast. Nothing really jumps out at me, but it's nice to see The Hoya do this. JT III's committed to improvement, as he says time and time, again, so that's nice to see too.
And he also says, as far as fan support goes:
For the most part? Pretty good? Come on, guys, we can do better than this! ;D

Man, JTIII keeps everything close to the vest. He is even more secretive than JT2. If you read that whole article he really doesn't say much at all. LOL. He speaks in coach code. I kind of like that. He has a plan, but he doesn't really talk about it. Hoya Paranoia lives on !! ;D

Great article. It is funny, JTIII is seen as much more media friendly than his dad, but there is no question that he is the king of the "non-answer" -- His dad just wouldn't talk to the media, JTIII taks to them, but is VERY careful what he says, and does not give any "news."
BTW, that is a compliment, not an insult . . .

He is heavily guarded in his talk which I like a lot.

I don't think it's necessarily that 3 doesn't give informative answers; I really think it's that a lot of it he doesn't know until he has a chance to sit down and think about it.
Keep in mind- he really IS that busy.

He knows exactly whats going on with his team and recruits.

FWIW, I don't think he has made up his mind on DJ and Jon's scholarships. And furthermore, even if he has, the discussion with the players should be private.

Well, as far as schedule and schollies, I really don't think he has sat down to figure it out yet or has anything definite to tell.
As far as McD, he wants an on-campus arena but knows there are problems, and doesn't want it to be a crutch.
What more is there?

I think this is the most informative thing in the article:
"Next year’s team will look and probably play much different than this year’s team."

As far as McD, he wants an on-campus arena but knows there are problems, and doesn't want it to be a crutch. Or maybe he knows that his predecessor spoke publicly about McDonough and it was not well received in administrative circles. "The reason for the lengthy delay has to do with other on-campus construction projects that are more pressing, such as the Southwest Quadrangle project and renovations and additions to the Ryan Administration building to create a new MBNA Performing Arts Center...Once the current building projects, additions and adjustments are made to the Hilltop, the McDonough renovations will rise to the forefront." --The HOYA, April 28, 2000.

I'm still stuck on the daylight savings issue...
I love JTIII. Nothing good comes from speaking your mind to the press. It's a bad idea to shut them out, but giving access and talking in coach speak is the perfect blend. You get page 1 articles...for the right reasons.
I think next year is going to be more wide open with more players playing. I actually think he'd love to push the ball and play with more pace, but was severely hampered by the lack depth.
Plus, the entire conference is going to spend and inordinate amount of time preparing for the style of play from last year...he may want to throw a monkey wrench in things early on to show a little different style.

I agree with those who say that JT3 doesn't really hand out news in these interviews, but I have a slightly different interpretation. I think it is probably the case that nothing stands out at us simply because he says things that make perfect sense to us as Hoya fans. This might be surprising to some because we haven't exactly had this in place over the past few seasons (reference the famous "2 Percenters" and the goal/expectation debate) to say nothing of nonsensical actions, of which the NIT denial, Eshtension, and 4OT debacle are only a small sample.

Not to hijack the thread, but I was curious as to your feelings on your sig. Is it there because it is dated 2000, and you are sick of waiting? Is it there because you agree with the statement (that that is the reason, not agree with the decision) and are noting that the delay has to do with the delay of other buildings? Or is it another reason?
