Looks like tonight's game won't be close, either. Would Bochy dare start Maddy Bum on two days rest tomorrow?

It worked in '65 for Alston w Koufax on two days rest. Yes I know, and I remember it well. That's why I brought it up. Apologized to TBird for bringing this up in another thread, although I don't think TBird was even born in 1965. That was the year that SK refused to pitch game 1 because it conflicted with the Jewish High Holy Days. But for that, he would have been on schedule to pitch game 7 with his normal rest (3 days back in those days, not 4).

The other odd part about that Series is that Koufax lost game 2 of that Series, I believe to Jom Kaat. Bob Allospn homered off him Game 2.
Lou Johnson homered for the Dodgers in Koufax Game 7 shutout.

Bumgarner is now among the great WS pitchers of all time.

Clutch work by Bumgarner last night. I just knew the Royals would get to him. Stupid me...

Bumgarner is now among the great WS pitchers of all time. I had to look this up but suprised no one has mentioned Bob Gibson in the 1967 World Series yet: In the 1967 World Series against the Boston Red Sox, Gibson allowed only three earned runs and 14 hits over three complete game victories (Games 1, 4, and 7), the latter two marks tying Christy Mathewson's 1905 World Series record. Just as he had in 1964, Gibson pitched a complete game victory in Game 7, and contributed offensively by hitting a home run that made the game 3–0.[46][47]

Don't forget Lew Burdette in '57 and Lolich in '68 each of whom won 3 games while their more heralded rotation mates, Spahn and McLain struggled.

I may have been at Yankee stadium for one of Burdette's wins. Tough to swallow for a Yankee fan at the time.

A rare and I mean rare Curt Flood misplay doomed Gibson in Game 7. I think Jim Northrup hit the line drive that he froze on and played into a triple.

I'm sure lots of Hoyas remember Harry Brecheen of the Cards going 3-0 with an ERA of 0.83 in the 1946 series. I do.

Exciting Series, but when did San Francisco turn into College Park?
