The article says we had recruited him. Do we think there would be any interest here? It seems like with our pursuit of Trier, Bacon, etc. that Ali would probably only be relevant if we land none of those guys. What do you all think?

Rumor is that we already have reached out. You recruit him just as hard as the others if there is mutual interest. Last I checked none of those other guys have pulled the trigger yet.

Getting this guy could be the piece that beings it all together. Lineups with Campbell(Bacon?), Ali/Peak, Copeland, Derrickson/Dickerson, and Govan(Rabb?) would simply grown man every team they played. That's a lot of physicality for any college team to handle, added to the other guys on the bench it could resemble the Hoyas of old.

Yeah I edited my wording a bit. I think he's made strides, but has limited upside as a distributor. Bacon would be a nice get. If LJ can make an impact I think Bacon would probably take notice. He can be a lead guard within our system. Him and LJ in the same backcourt would wreak havoc. And if we don't get Trier (fingers crossed), Crawford (unlikely, imo), or Dozier (least likely, IMO) The guards we are on are pretty comparable in terms of filling that role.

I like Ali, elite athlete, 3rd in scoring in EYBL play at nearly 22 a game. Great finisher/scorer especially in transition, shot a good percentage from 3, would absolutely take him.
I think it’s a stretch to say he can play PG though.. Kid had 33 assists and 58 to’s in 16 games played. Would really have to work on his skills and decision making..

Maybe a good backup option to Reaves if he goes elsewhere.
