Men defeat William & Mary for their last tune-up before the start of BIG East @ Butler next Saturday. Still have one non-conference game to go on September 30th at UMCP.
Would like to see more scoring against some of these lesser teams, to be honest, but if you're going to win by a 1-goal margin, 1-0 is the score to do it by. Without discounting the offensive theatrics of Allen and Rudy, this team may be more readily defined by the defense of Gomez, Yaro, and Rosenberry.

Hopefully Rudy is ok he took a serious hit in the first half I'm told.

Winning and shutting the other team out is always a good thing.
Every time I see Yaro play, I am more convinced he is a superstar, no longer a superstar in the making. He has a ridiculous motor and never makes a mistake.
Throw in his well timed forays up the field and I see a long professional career ahead of this young man.
He is also a consummate gentleman and has been super nice to Harry.

Good to hear he should be ok. I was just basing reports off of texts from someone at the game.

Hoyas win 2-0 both goals by Allen. First on a PK second to seal the win with 1:48 remaining on the counter.

Men Play their final OOC Game tonight as the Travel to College Park to Take on Maryland! Should be a great game! People should head out there if they're in the area. Game Starts at 7pm. It's being shown on BTN2GO but I believe you have to pay for that service.

1st ever official win over Maryland. (Games won on Pks in the tournament officially go in the record book as ties).

Still a long way to go before that 1-28-1 all-time record starts looking respectable, but Rome wasn't built in a day. Anyone who actually got to see the game, please share your impressions.

Watched a fair amount of the game on the Fox Sport Go app. Hoyas dominated play from what I saw and had a few good chances, but could not convert and played to a 0-0 draw. Did not have enough chances, though, given how much they controlled the ball. Marquette's goalie is pretty damn good, and their D was tough, as well.

Yeah disappointing not to find the win at home, but Marquette is a quality side, even though the Hoyas had the better run of play.

Yea, the team clearly misses Neumann and his offensive creativity. Even with Allen's physical presence and solid touch, Rudy's high work rate and offensive mindset, etc., I feel like goals are going to be hard to come by this season. On the other hand... this team has not given up a goal since Princeton, a stretch of 4 shutouts. They have not given up more than 1 goal in any game all season. Gomez is a four-year starter in goal, which is a tremendous advantage. Yaro looks like he's headed to MLS. Rosenberry is a three-year starter as a junior. Seiler is a three-year starter as a junior. The 'weak spot' in the defense is some combination of the senior Rist and Turnley, who oh-by-the-way was the 2013 Most Improved Player and started 20 games last season. Long story short... this team may not give up more than 1 goal in a game all season, and shutouts look to be the norm. Things look a bit difference from that perspective...
