Diakite and Fultz are the guys should be the top 2 targets for 16 right now. Bracey and Jackson on the next list.

I like Diakite, but I think a true 5 is more of a need for 2016 than a 4. I think we're probably good at the 4 with Akoy and Derrickson. That being said, I wouldn't turn down a kid with the potential of Diakite regardless of position.

Think Diakite is the best prospect we are involved with in 2016 but my understanding is that he is almost certainly going to end up at UVA. Cavs are going to be good for awhile.

Seems from everything I'm reading that he's a heavy UVA lean. How ironic that we could be in the position to tell a recruit that we play much faster than our main competition???

Well at least our hats in the ring. It's our turn to snatch a heavy lean from someone. Perhaps Kilkenny-Jones to UVA opens it up a bit

Keith Stevens’ Takeover squad was plush with talent, and it showed as they took an early lead in Friday’s game. Despite numerous Division I prospects on the floor, Indy was still in the game thanks to CJ Walker, who finished with a game high 23 points. However, the entire tone of the game changed when 6’9 forward Mamadi Diakite arrived. Diakite was not on the bench when the game started and when he did arrive he took a few minutes to stretch. However, once he entered the game he immediately made his presence felt. Diakite played with non-stop energy from the second he stepped on the floor. He altered or blocked numerous shots on the defensive end as well as grabbed every rebound in his area. Diakite also showed a nice offensive touch as he hit a three-pointer and later pivoted for an impressive jump hook. Diakite finished a modest stat line of 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, but anyone watching knew he was clearly the difference for Takeover. www.hardwoodinsiders.com/2015/04/nike-eybl-hampton-day-1-standouts/

Appears UVA has backed off a bit on Diakite according to their insiders. He’s not going to do anything until his parents arrive to the states in a couple of months but Hoyas are definitely in play. Uva would still be the favorite if they pushed but concerns over his lack of development and fit in their system seem to have cause their staff to cool a bit according to them.
The majority of times I saw him he looked more Prospect than player, an athletic freak but he’s still learning the game. However against Carlisle in the playoffs he absolutely dominated, 19 8 and 7 blks, he was the best player on the floor by miles that night. Also more 6’9 ish than 6’10
If he did end up here i wouldn’t expect much from him on offense for the first couple years but a potential game changer on D and a nice change of pace to Govan. With all the rule changes in college B-ball shot-blocking is alway a premium. He looks like he has potential to be a defensive force.

I'm pleasantly surprised we're basically in his top 4 and getting an official visit. We've got other skilled bigs already on the roster (Govan, Derrickson), so it's probably not a bad idea to bring in a great athlete who needs work on his offensive skills. He might develop into a nice complement for our skilled bigs.

The 6-foot-9 Diakite attends the Blue Ridge School in Dyke, Va., has made visits to USC, Washington and Virginia and said Georgetown has also been "after me hard." "A lot of schools," Diakite said have been calling. "It's a lot of fun for me. I don't know when I will make a decision." louisville.scout.com/story/1547786-big-man-wants-to-check-out-louisville_____________________ Not a very good shot here supposedly...

From Rivals: One of the most entertaining players at camp, Mamadi Diakite, has done a lot of the little things that go unnoticed. In particular, the four-star power forward has been as good a communicator with teammates as anybody in the camp. There's been multiple times where he's barked at guards for not getting the big men involved or delivering passes. Diakite is still skinny, but the rising senior is quick, runs the floor like a sprinter and is a pogo stick around the rim. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1776590

Listed the Hoyas again, had some positive things to say.
Kid's parents and mentor/guardian live outside the USA, odd situation.
