That the two most successful programs of the past 15 years are also the two most corrupt. I guess it burns me more because I live in CT. and have to put up with this nonsense on a daily basis. If hoyas were about to win their 4th title in 15 years, I would probably turn a blind eye too. Do you think it will get one mention between now and Monday about the track record of these crooks??

Not ironic. Cause and effect.

Not ironic. Cause and effect. Exactly. Though I like Kevin Ollie. He seems like a legit coach, unlike Calhoun.

No. It will not get a single mention. As for Kevin Ollie, if you swim in a cesspool long enough, you don't notice the stench,
He is steeped in Fagan's crooked tea.

I hope Ollie goes to the NBA after this. I always liked him as a player with the Sixers and I kind of want him to succeed in a league where everyone gets paid and not just his players.

Agreed. I was desperately hoping for a Florida-Wisconsin final, yet we get another example in college sports of the corrupt being rewarded. It's extremely frustrating. At the same time, it makes me have even more respect for JTIII and how he runs the program.

Has a young family. Have met him numerous times, shocked if he leaves. Regardless, they (ucon and kentucky) win without any morals

Regardless, they (ucon and kentucky) win without any morals If you've met Ollie many times then you must know he's a good guy and at least for now he's not anything like Calhoun.. I hate Uconn as much or more than anyone on the board but killing this particular Uconn team is a bit much to me HoyaPride.. There's nothing slimy about this squad at all imo.. It's a team made up of less heralded kids who are on a nice run.. That being said I hope UK beats them by 40 tomorrow not because I like Kentucky, it's because I don't want to hear from my obnoxious buddies, neighbors & co-workers..

IMO, Ollie is a class act. I think most parents would like for their sons to play for. I believe he is dedicated to help young men be the best that bthey can be on and off the court. "Sounds like John Thompson to me, a good coach and better man"

Yup, as bad as UCONN was under Calhoun, I do think Ollie is a classy guy.... at least that's the sense I get....

You could be right. But I appreciate Calhoun for giving his blessing for the Ollie hire. Curious - why is the UConn girls all academic and so successful in their game and in life. Is it the programs or what?

There is far, far less money following the women's basketball players around, compared to the men's game. In this context, I think, and this may well be a gross generalization, that women's basketball players are not viewing this sport as the sole means to potential wealth, through income generation, in the future; they are prepared for their post-basketball days where some men's players may not be. I am not sure that UConn's program is alone that way; they are just far more known nationally because of their on-the-court success.

I guess root for the less dirty program with players that stay for more than a cup of coffee at the school. I can't bring myself to actually root for either program but, as others have mentioned, I liked Ollie as a player and I like how hard his guys play for him. That's certainly preferable to having to hear about Calipari and how great of a coach he is. As for whether it will be mentioned about the questionable character of the programs, not a chance. I haven't heard mentioned in any of the Kentucky games that it should be an embarrassment to Kentucky that they were an 8 seed to begin with. A mediocre coach could have done far better than an 8 with the talent on that team. They're winning despite having Cal as a coach. When you only play for one year, it's not like you have to listen to your coach. Especially since he wouldn't bench his best guys and risk losing.

I have to give both teams credit as this time last year neither team was in the NCAA Tourney... UConn was on a post season band Kentucky lost in the first rd of the NIT to Robert Morris..maybe this mean that St.John's will get to the Championship game this time next year...
I did not see either team getting this far...UCon lost by double digits to Louisville in the AAC Championship game And Kentucky lost by 1 to Florida in the SEC Championship..which probably was the first sign that they were pulling it together as they battled back from a double digit deficit...
I think both teams deserve to win it as it was not handed to them: Connecticut path St. Joseph Villanova Iowa St. Michigan St. Florida
Kentucky path Kansas St. Wichita St. Louisville Michigan Wisconsin
I think Kentucky's path was a little bit tougher but not by much more than Connecticut... Kentucky is the first team since 1993 "Michigan's Fab Five" to start 5 Freshman reach the Final Four and are now trying to set history and become.. The first team ever to win it all, starting 5 Freshmen... UConn, considering all the departures they had after the post-season ban.. I think Kevin Ollie has done 1 heck of a job and can seal his legacy with a win tomorrow nite...
After seeing how much better of a team UConn looked against Michigan St. and UF... I have to go with UConn over Kentucky.

We have to stop whining about other team's successes and blaming their success on some sort of assumed corruption. I'm a big fan of Kevin Ollie from his Sixers days and think his success is a great story for a new NCAA coach who understands the game and goes all in for his players.
Calipari is what he is. I get that but he is successful. I do root against him in this game but I doubt he will sink the Kentucky bball program.
Georgetown and the new BE needs to decide if it's going to compete with the powers or fall back in the race. It's a critical time.

Georgetown and the new BE needs to decide if it's going to compete with the powers or fall back in the race. It's a critical time. Are you saying we should start cheating to win games? That's neither desirable or realistic if you know anything about Georgetown the university, the athletic department, JT3, or the fanbase. Having Broadus back after what went down at Binghampton and having recruiting Edgerson is close enough to the edge for most at Gtown, and I doubt anyone at the school would go any further. Gtown isn't 100% clean, but no school is. And I like being in that category of mostly clean schools rather than playing in the dirt with the Kentucky's of the world. And as for Kentucky, I could care less what they do to win. Gtown can still compete with them most years and its even more satisfying when we do beat those types of teams. And when Kentucky, does have success, I'm not jealous and I don't begrudge them at all. Don't confuse pointing our what they do with whining. And as for UCONN, I'm happy for them too. Ollie's handled himself and his situation with class so hats off to them too....
