@jonrothstein: Maryland transfer Seth Allen has committed to Virginia Tech. Surprised they announced this already. I believe he cannot enroll in VT until after July 1st when Maryland officially leaves the ACC. Surprised they didn't try to block him from ACC schools anyway.

Does anyone know if we're pursuing any 5th year senior transfers at this point? We have one, and perhaps two (depending on Trey's status) open scholarships for next year. It would seem like a good idea to bring in a transfer to fill out the roster (maybe a backup point guard or reserve center), who also would be gone by 2015 and free up the scholarship for that year's class.

I don't think we should fill a scholarship spot for the sake of not having none open. With the freshman coming in, we want them to get as much playing time as they can get (if they are ready). The problem is that I don't know there are many desirable 5th year transfers who would want to come and sit on the bench, or play 10-15 minutes a game. If you were in the shoes of those guys, wouldn't you want to go elsewhere? In fact, I am guessing that was a major reason behind Moses' move. Based on his comments at the banquet, it sounds like Moses legitimately likes Georgetown. I think he's going to Nebraska for a better shot at playing time, and perhaps a change of scenery.

True, good points. Where it would be good for us to have insurance policies against injuries/suspensions/foul trouble, many kids might not like the thought of being a 3rd string PG or backup center. I think it would have to be a kid who knows he's not going to the League, and instead is happy to find a graduate degree he likes at Gtown, and is content to be a backup on a very good team. Not sure if that kind of kid even exists though... Regardless, I don't think it's a good idea to start the season already short-handed. Many teams will suffer attrition through a combination of minor and major injuries, academic or conduct suspensions, transfers, or even foul trouble in a particular game. We started the season short-handed last year, and that didn't turn out too well. We started with 12 scholarship players, even knowing that two of those 12 (Whittington and Smith) were players whose reliability was questionable. We have a ton of talent coming in next year, and would hate to see the season sidetracked by a lack of depth.

I'm rooting for this guy. Seems like a good kid that just isn't quite the right fit for Gtown or MD for different reasons. But he balls, and maybe he can contribute with the right fit.

What's going on at Creighton? First Doug McDermott walks on last year and now this?

Jeff Ermann @insidemdsports
Charles Mitchell is leaving #Terps to be closer to his grandmother who is ill. Source says his sister is leaving Towson for same reason.

Not laughing had Mitchell's misfortune, but I am laughing at maryland's and the fact that he was definitely coming back twice this season after rumors of his transferring came up.

To be fair, he was going to be the biggest disappointment of the bunch anyway. Way overrated. But how many scholarship players will actually be playing there next year?
