What has Jim Christian done to be named the B.C. head coach??
Jim Calhoun or Ben Howland would have been a better choice...
No wonder their basketball program has been in the Wilderness for years now..

Syracuse and Pitt will only fall into the B.C. trap if the AD & Athletic department gets cheap... B.C. could have went out and gotten a big name coach instead they go the cheap route.. It is as if they are letting mid-major coaches use their program for training and see if they can catch lightning in a bottle... They are running the program like a business and apparently pocketing all that ACC/ESPN tv money and deciding not to spend a dime to bring in a football and basketball coach with some clout... Fans, alumni, current students should be upset.. Cause in the end who are they fooling...there is no way Syracuse makes back to back hires of mid-major coaches to run that basketball program.. Heads would roll for sure.

St. Johns should pursue Calhoun or Howland and get that thing turned around. What a mess.

This quote from a Boston Globe story cracked me up: "Now that Steve Wojciechowski has taken the Marquette job, which should offend BC folks because he considered a job in the flailing Big East a better position than one in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Eagles are limited in their options to create sizzle." www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/04/01/needs-make-splash-with-basketball-coaching-hire/UeRbAjzo6NkZdTfJgc06kM/comments.htmlThe fact that someone would prefer the Marquette job over the BC job should offend BC folks because it's evidence not of some huge disparity in basketball conferences, but of the crappiness of the BC job regardless of conference.

From the Globe article (emphasis added):
"There are no easy choices. BC believes it is one of the premium jobs and those rising coaches who kept their résumés in their briefcases say it isn’t. As they have learned at Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, being in the ACC isn’t good enough anymore. Being a strong academic institution isn’t good enough to attract talent and garner respect."
You mean, being in the ACC doesn't solve all problems? I'm shocked. Shocked and stunned.

As I have said before the problem in the ACC is that not everybody can be good. Even in the old version of the Big East you had USF, Rutgers, etc. who were awful.
Is there more room at the top of the ACC? Sure but at some point, some teams are going to have to lose regardless of the coach. There's just no way all these teams hiring new coaches will succeed consistently in the long haul.
