I am probably in the minority here, but really guys, if we get in the big dance we will have a low seed and be an underdog in every game. How far do you think we would go?? On the other hand, we could make some noise in the NIT.
Yes we beat Creighton (once) and Michigan State. However in both of those games they were off and we were firing on all cylinders. Let's face facts we don't have a prayer against any of the top 10 teams an probably not against any of the top 20 teams. Maybe there might be one miracle in the NCAAs, but not 2 or 3.
What do you guys think???

Never is the NIT better than being in the Dance. Who knows, with a little bit of March Madness luck we might make it farther than the last 5 years!

What do you guys think??? In 2000 we got to the Sweet 16 as a 10 seed. In 2006 we got to the Sweet 16 as a 7 seed and were one DJ owens three from beating the eventual national champs and making it to the Elite 8. If we got in this year, we'd likely be looking at a 12 seed which is a little worse, but at this point I like our chances against a 5 seed as much as our chances against a 15, so why not....

Whatever the question, the NIT is never the answer.

We'd be better off not playing in either and letting the returning players focus on academics which is obviously a problem given that we have lost two players to that. This team is not going to achieve anything this year as it stands. The one exception would be if they somehow get on a roll, win the BE tourney and then can enter the NCAAs with some momentum.
We are losing at least a couple of our key players to graduation and I'm hoping some of the young mistakes transfer, so there is no point getting "experience" for the 2 or 3 quality players that will contribute next year. This is the end of an era and we restart with the new freshmen and DSR leading the way (and possibly Bowen in a DJ Owens role). Next year hopefully will be a lot like JTIIII's first year.

Would def take the ncaas. We would have as good a shot as any at getting a w. Consecutive years in the NCAA is looked at too sometimes.
Besides I would gladly take 1 victory in the NCAA against a couple I the nit. Gladly.

What do you guys think??? I think whatever tournament will allow the Hoyas to continue to play and gain exposure is the best option... I would take a run in the NIT over a 1 and done situation in the NCAA's and CBS/ESPN asking the same questions about why we can't make a Sweet 16. Hard core poster's will post no matter what the tournament is as long as the team wins and continues to play. An NIT run will still give the University additional exposure.

Would you take an NIT title over a 1-and-done appearance in the NCAAs?

It will give us exposure as a team not good enough to play in the big boy tournament. The ONLY ones that care about the NIT are the schools that play in it. Nobody else in college hoops cares.

I think there can be something to be said for it for a young team. I think we forget sometimes this isn't a young team. Everyone one of these guys except Reggie has played an NCAA tourney game. So, no, there's nothing these guys can gain from an NIT run to build on.

It would be nice if we play in the NIT to see Domingo, Hayes, and Cameron play a lot. Also, I would think that the NIT people would set up a GU-MD game at Verizon or Comcast. Could be the good way to redeem the season but also a final humiliation.
