I too am all in, but it would appear that his offense is way, way, way ahead of his defense. Yes, I would agree and he's listed anywhere from 5'6" to 5'8" -- defense is going to be a major challenge for him at the college level. And that's where having Mosely, Campbell, Kaleb Johnson and maybe Peak on the roster his freshman year will be really helpful. We'll have the guard depth to prevent any defensive issues he has from becoming a major liability his freshman year and to give him time to adjust to playing defense at a college level if he needs it. We'll also be able to use him as a change of pace defensively. And I continue to hold out hope he still has another growth spurt in him (hopefully brought on by committing to the Hoyas)

Maybe Peak? Ha!
I think the big adjustment will be on the offensive end. He will have to convert from a score first PG (at least initially) into a distributor, until he/JTIII determines whether he can/should seek to score.
On defense, it kind of is what it is. He will either have the insane speed/quicks/hops to make up for his lack of height or he won't. Can't really teach it or adjust it.

If this kid was 6'2" IMO he'd be pushing 5 star status. At the least a solid 4 star top 100 kid. Can't teach a lot of what he does. I'm on board!!! I don't even want to think about how dominant Roy would have been on defense if he was 7'10"

Hey Chris. Did you see that tonight? The only piece that is missing, Baby, is you. We know you will make the right decision. Until then.

Is there any gauge of the interest Chris may have in Georgetown? We know by the growing numbers in the coalition that fan based interest is strong with him. I don't have any info beyond what's publicly available, but I suspect he's going to wait this out a bit. It wasn't long ago that he had offers only from mid and low majors, but now he's starting to get high major offers like Miami and Georgetown so his trajectory is clearly on the upswing. I think he'll wait to see how much further this can go. I'd guess that his height will keep the biggest of programs away--your Dukes and your UNCs and Kentuckys. But could somebody like Villanova get involved? Or Wake Forrest, or NC State maybe? It's possible and that may chance the decision making a bit. I'd suspect that we're very well-positioned as of now, but other high major offers could change things. The school I worry about most is Maryland. They have the same advantage of being local, but they're a better team right now and a hotter offer than we are at the moment. In the event that they offered I'd have to think they'd immediately be the favorite. They have a few other offers out to point guards in 2017, including a few Top 50 types. If those don't pan out, we'll see if Lykes is among the next in line for an offer. III is a Gonzaga alumnus but it hasn't helped with the last couple point guard recruits from there. Of course Lykes could be totally different, but some kids in the region think there's more prestige in an ACC program than there is in the Big East. Hopefully Lykes sees us as his best opportunity and it works out for everyone.

Not saying it won't happen, but with Anthony Cowan coming in next season, I doubt Maryland brings in another diminutive PG in 2017.

Hopefully Lykes sees us as his best opportunity and it works out for everyone. RB I disagree with your take on Maryland and they would be favorite if they offered. Based on how their roster projects in the next few years with Jaylen Brantley who would be a senior and Anthony Cowan who would be a sophomore both being smallish guards (5'10" ish) and very similar to Chris Lykes, the playing time might be limited. I doubt you can play any of those 3 together. As with the versatility with the Hoyas roster, you can play any combination of Lykes, Mosely, Campbell in the backcourt. If you want to go really small like we did last night, you can move a Peak (if he's still there) or Johnson to the SF/Wing spot. Plus Lykes would be different then the other guards on the Hoyas roster in terms of skill set and play making abilities. Now granted the notion of Maryland not being that attractive for Lykes is based on the belief that Chris or recruits in general really study the roster of teams recruiting them or do they just believe the lip service that some of these car salesman coaches (Dave Rice, John Calipari etc.) tell these kids. If Maryland is where he is determined to go, then the twerps could have 9 PG on the roster, it won't matter. Also so stating that Maryland is a more attractive/hotter offer right now as of today maybe true but nothing you do right now really matters in terms of defining a better team or program. If Maryland finishes the regular season in the top 10 but gets knocked out in the first game or opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament and the Hoyas get an at large 9 or a 10 seed and make a run to the Elite 8 and returns all players with eligibility remaining. The Hoyas immediately become a more attractive or hotter team. Now if Lykes's criteria for making a decision is based solely on the notion of which is a better program and he was looking to make decision today or in the next week or so, then yes if Maryland offers you can say they would be the favorite. I do agree with you that Lykes may want to wait and review all his options as more High Majors will get involved. Lykes is going to be a tough call for some Blue Blood schools who typically like the pro typical PG but Calipari went after Ulis after he blew up and he has been the best and most consistent PG Kentucky has had since John Wall regardless of his Pro Potential. Now obviously I'm just a little biased based on my affinity for Chris Lykes's game and how I think he could be the most exciting Hoyas PG since dare I say it A.I. So everything I stated above is seen through my Hoyas Gray & Blue tinted color eyes and a pinch of hope, so take it with a grain of salt. I'M ALL IN FOR CHRIS LYKES!!!

I think if we push we get him. Maryland has Cowan coming in and they are probably one of the favorites for Trevon Duvall, the #1 PG in '17. They also have an offer out to Prentiss Hubb for '18, his teammate who many in the wcac consider a lock to the Terps. I don't think they have interest in Lykes. They are sexy to recruits right now because of stars like Trimble and Diamond Stone.
The team I would watch for is Miami. They like to recruit the wcac. There is a perception that they are a guard friendly program.

Really happy the staff got on him early. That's a nice advantage, along with him being local. Seems like he's a big Iverson fan too. As SF mentioned, guard height is overrated. And guys like Lykes are becoming more valuable as the rules shift to favor penetrating guards. We have big tall guards and we can't defend the perimeter now so imo not a concern. Small guys can mitigate this to some extent by getting into the body of bigger players like Frank Mason did to DSR last year Yep. Not sure how different it is in college, but I know that someone looked at this for the NBA, and getting into the body was actually a lot more important than putting a hand in the face.
