Lunardi has us as a 6 seed, which interestingly means he thinks we should currently be ranked, somewhere from 21-24. If the seed lines hold (a big if.....) we would meet Syracuse in round 2. I think he had a bit of fun with that one.

With Josh Smith, I think there is a compelling argument that we should be ranked in the top 25. Smith is a top tier talent, and we have a strong backcourt. If we beat Oregon tomorrow night, I think there's a good chance we'll be ranked on Monday, after the new poll is released.
Meeting Syracuse in the tournament would be great. In such a scenario, winning would be the only option.

This is obviously stupid early to be talking about the tournament. But it is encouraging that an ESPN-driven "column" has 6 Big East teams (by my count) projected to make the tournament. If you'd asked me how many would be in it I would have guessed 2-3 solely because it was ESPN.

I can say (and have said, and will say) many bad things about Lunardi, but I don't think "shill for the corporate mouse ears" is one of them. At least not as it pertains to his Bracketology column. If he made his ever-evolving analysis based on what ESPN wanted the future to be, his selections would go down the tube very quickly. And then he wouldn't be working for ESPN anymore. I'd expect fair analysis fro Katz and Bilas throughout the season too (though maybe not as prominently, in comparison to previous years). Some of their other analysts? Not so sure.

East Regionals are at MSG too - a match up there would be more fitting.
