Local class of 2022 kid... "Paul VI Catholic has become the springboard for some of the top college prospects in recent years and Dug McDaniel looks to be next in line. Standing at 5-foot-8, McDaniel might not pass the look test, but a glance at the final box score - 13 points, 11 assists with just three turnovers - only begins to tell the story to just how good the freshman is. McDaniel is not just a fun watch but also a productive one. George Washington and Mount St. Mary’s are the first two programs that have offered, but more are sure to come between now and 2022." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/the-evans-awards-dc-national-hoopfestI believe Wake Forest offered him this weekend...

For those that are curious, Dematha plays Montverde tonight at 8 pm on ESPNU.

They're trying finally enj, although we did offer Anthony bennett in HS. I'm hoping the combo of GU's weight up there and JYD being coach pays dividends. Just like seeing our boy Ivan in a Hoya thread.

Has been on recruiting radars for a long time, since at least his freshman/sophomore years...hasn't developed as well as some of his Chicago peers in that high school class. Had a nice game today in front of Kirby...

And his passing...he scores /shoots in multiple ways, but he also gets others involved..and we've seen the value of that recently...

Beard's not flashy and certainly not uber athletic. Doesn't really play above the rim, so, in a competitive league like Whitney Young plays in in Chicago, he's not turning heads. That said, he looks athletic enough for me and plays against good competition. Looks like he has some promise and fills out an evaluation much like a Terrell Allen might have back in the day at DeMatha. If he's capable on defense in Kirby's estimation, I'd take a long look.

Plays with a ball-dominant guard in Duke commit DJ Steward, who transferred to Whitney Young before last season. Whitney Young's head coach handed the keys to Steward and Beard has taken a back seat. Same high school as Paul White, who played second fiddle to Jahlil Okafor. 'Looks pretty athletic here...

I am not a local but Whitney Young is a highly reputable program in Chicago. Didn’t Allen play with Cowan at Dematha? Beard and Seward could be a similar combination.
