Anybody remember what game it was where she showed up with her face painted backwards?
The WG Mascott took a shot at the "new" Jack mascot on Twitter yesterday, and Ben Standig (Comcast Sports DC) retweeted it. I replied by asking if the WG mascot was the same person who couldn't spell in a mirror. Standig asked me if that really happened. I assured him it did, around the same time WG fans "invaded" the Hilltop. I found that gem of a thread, but was wondering if anyone remembered at what specific game Dyslexic Diva made her appearance. Would love to forward that along.

Thanks FL. That is awesome. Sad to see so many classic and now departed posters on those threads.

Was thinking about WG and the "rivalry" for some reason last week. Hard to fathom that our program was in the depths to such an extent that some actually cared about WG and their fans.

Ha, Filo. Right on. I care a lot more about Provy right now, and for the foreseeable future.

My favorite part about the "march" (more like 15 random kids walking over) was that they couldn't be bothered to check the basketball schedule. They scheduled their march during the Syracuse home game in '06.

I'm a big fan of city rivalries, and the games we had with GW back in the day have some good history, e.g. 'The Game That Everybody Saw' in which Esherick hit a 40-foot game-tying buzzer beater. Even if there's a structural competitive imbalance, like in the Big 5 in Philly, it can still make for some compelling moments. GW's not holding up their end of the bargain where it matters most, though - the court. That Golden Age of the Atlantic-10, when they thought they could dethrone Georgetown as the District's premier program, really ended with a whimper, not a bang. The best part of the 2006 fauxvalry was that 27-2 GW was knocked out of the Tournament by...Duke. The same Duke team we so iconically defeated that same year. Haven't heard much from Foggy Bottom ever since. The year we went to the Final Four, they got annihilated by our Sweet 16 opponent, Vandy, in the first round. That's been followed by a 9-17 season, a 10-18 season, 16-15 (first round loss in the CBI, whoo!), a postseason-less 17-14 year, a 10-21 bottoming out, and last year's 13-17 season. That's, um, not exactly compelling. Now that we no longer have the number one conference in the country to bring up our RPI and SOS (and attendance numbers!), I'm sure we would love to have a compelling cross-town rivalry against a top-tier (say, top 50 in the country) team. But GW ain't that team, and I'm not seeing any real signs that they can become one anytime soon.

Pops Mensah-Bonsu was fun as hell to watch dunk the ball even if that was about the extent of his skill set.

Rest asssured, it really happened. I was the one who reported it to Hoyatalk and I consider that my crowning contribution over 15? years of being part of this little community.
WG girl, a friend and two tools were sitting right behind me in row F in section 110. She was hot and stupid, but was willing to engage in a back and forth with the student section so I give her a little credit. It was a fun night. And yes, "WG" was painted on her cheek in big, bold navy blue and yellow. It was awesome.

Not only did they lose to our eventual Sweet Sixteen opponent in 2007, but they did so in downright embarrassing fashion. If memory serves me correctly, the score was 77-44.
