guhoyas.collegesports.com/What was the men's basketball team's best victory in the 2004-05 season? vs. Notre Dame on Roy Hibbert's Buzzer-Beater Dunk (1/23/05) at Villanova off Darrel Owens' free-throws with .1 seconds left (1/15/05) vs. #15 Pittsburgh to "Ring in the New Year" (1/5/05) vs. Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Tourney with a 23-7 run to erase an 11 point deficit (3/9/05)

Why do I get an "invalid entry" when I try to vote?

I think the Irish win and fist pump or the first UConn loss was most important.
While the Pitt win certainly was a landmark win, Hoya fans, the media, and the public alike, viewed it as more of a pleasant suprise and an upset, rather than a stong victory. Pitt has just lost to Bucknell at home too, so all the attention was focused on JT3 taking over from Pops and Pitt's troubles, rather than our team's acheivement.
Conversely, the ND game was a tough battle, but people thought we could pull it out and we did. People thought we had a shot and we took advantage and everyone saw Roy's dunk and the fist pump. The nation began to see we were a legit team.
It's the same with the UConn loss. Instead of seeing our great play and UConn's troubles as fluke's, Digger and the other talking heads at ESPN were impressed with our fight. Those two games brought us back into the national fold.

I wasn't look at it in terms of the most important win, just the best game in terms of excitement and how good you felt after the win.
I had to go with Hibbert's buzzer beater and beating ND. That was one of, if not THE greatest sports moment in my life.
After that it was the Nova win for me. Beating them 66-64 on the day they were celebrating their championship over us by that same score was just so incredibly sweet.

I guess the ND win then.
Wasn't at 'nova, but this past Tuesday's game was the most fun I've had at a Hoya game in awhile.

The most important win for our season was the Pitt win. It got us off on the right foot and announced that we were going to contend this year.
The most impressive win was against Nova. We beat a Sweet Sixteen team, at their place, as they celebrated the 20th anniversy of their national championship. Good teams, like Nova, don't lose games in those type of situations very often.
The most fun win was the ND victory. Nothing like storming the court (twice) and watching your favorite player become the hero.

best to my mind was nova .. they then cleaned kansas clock.. went to the ncaa and without sumpter... they shoulda beat nc .... if only the ref had got it right ..with the NO WAY HE WALKED CALL AT THE END .. wwowoowo... i forgot if west va wins the national championship... that win would be really special. ...wowoo.. go hoyas.. go big east .. how about if louisville wins the national championship ...then its a three peat for the big east... yeah.. we got the right to count our new brothers as us... go hoyas.. go bigeast.. what is the acc anyway... the home of big east rejects.. go hoyas..

have to agree with lich... listening to this WVA game makes me think that game was a lot more special than i though it was at the time.
still have to say - being up at the nova game this year was probably the best experience for me. beating them on their home court while they were celebrating the '85 game takes the cake. their students left the court stunned. villanova truly has one of the most talented teams in the country - if they didn't suffer "injuries" all year i think they would have competed for the big east championship and won that game last night.

I had to go with my heart- that Roy Hibbert win vs ND. That game was significant in a program sense- lots of ESPN time, beating a team we never beat at home.
Plus, it was Roy who won it. So great.
Truth is, we really did have a lot of good memories from this year. Let's hope we get our "Illinois" season next year.

Pitt. After years of our not being able to beat a ranked team, this game was like a bucket of cold water in the face - a wake up call for us and the rest of the nation that the times they are a changing.
I fully understand the support for the Irish and Nova victories, but the Irish game was one that we all thought we could win, and the Nova win was certainly impacted by Fraser being out and Sumpter being less than 100%.
I will say, too (since no one else has), that if Brandon's feet were a little smaller, the answer to this question would have undoubtedly been Syracuse.
