Rockaway, mom wanted USC. The quote stated that she wanted Gtown If he left the state. So the kid did what mom (and maybe Dad) wanted.

Could have finished second, fifth, or fiftieth. Doesn't matter. What's the saying, close only counts in horseshoes and nuclear warfare? He didn't choose Georgetown, so let's move on. He already has. Exactly. Enough with this "(Mom/Dad) wanted Georgetown!" post-decision patting ourselves on the back. Happens too often. We missed on another guard. This one is worse than Crawford, talent-wise, but I don't think it's worse in terms of whether we should've been able to lock it down. He's an out of state, out of region kid that we did a good job to even be in on.

Guards we recruit from the area want to get away, and guards we recruit from outside the area want to stay home. Either way, we're left lying on the ground looking up at the sky.
Good grief, and rats.
On the bright side, if III's remarks about Tre are on the level, maybe we don't really need a point guard this year. Next year, though...

We have had a good haul and it is not as if the Hoyas have been without guards. Wright and Freeman were nationally ranked. Starks and Clark were very good high major guards. Trawick is just fine and DSR is also nationally ranked. I know that we have not had a Top 15 guard, but I do not believe that the Hoyas problems in recent yeras have been primarily guard related. If anything it has been the disappearance of an inside game on offense and defense, due to ineligibility and failure of some prime recruits to develop as hoped.

TC, Big Dog, brasky - now all we need is for RDF to check in, to make it a Grumpy Old Man Quartet! Listen, I just observe the HoyaTalk laws of recruiting which are : The Law of Latavious : any time a thread goes past 40 pages, we will not sign that recruit The Noel Corollary : if a recruit goes on TV to announce, he will not sign with Georgetown A lot of people keep posting "it's different this time", but it never is. Missing: The Anderson Forecast: If a recruit is stuck on an official visit for an extended period of time due to weather, especially if said visit is in Los Angeles, we will not sign said recruit.

These commandments that we hold true need to be pinned somewhere.

Well, glad I was wrong. Much rather have him go to SC than UL. I definitely learned something about people in the UL program after this and won't make the same mistake twice as far as they are concerned. Just completely cocky. They were going solely off the father and some comments PJ made after his visit about how much he liked

Good luck to the kid; he seemed like a nice, quiet, soft-spoken, well-mannered kid. Which makes me worry for him having to deal with a nasty, abusive coach like Martin. I hope he chose USC because he really liked it the best and is ok with that type of coaching, and not due to family pressure.

If a recruit doesn't come here, I have no concerns as to why he chose another place. That is his decision and will live with it...as we all do, in our lives. On Coach Martin..I agree. Why would anyone want to be coached by that guy? And its not like he is a great college coach or someone who prepares you for the league. I assume in this case, it was less Martin and more staying home and playing for his dad's school.

Louisville is not the first program to conveniently interpret the tea leaves in the way that best suits them. As for arrogant - you mean like "adulterous sex with your secretary in an Italian restaurant" arrogant? Yeah, that fits.

I was going to use daymond's term, "cocky" - but that was too easy!

He's the kind of player and USC is the type of program -- well, really, i mean, Martin is the type of coach -- where if things don't work out the first year or two i wouldn't be surprised to see his name on a transfer list. I hope we maintained good juju with him after the announcement in case he ever reopens things....

Seems like a good kid. I appreciate that he didn't play any games by donning a Georgetown or Lousiville hat or tshirt and then taking it off to reveal South Carolina.
