BTW...B&G...thanks for keeping us in the loop regarding recruits and your insights from the staff. You have never declared any of these folks as locks for the Hoyas...just that the staff felt good about their relationships. The staff themselves often have no idea if that good relationship, is enough to get the recruit to commit to the school.

Can't be too disappointed about this one. Best of luck to PJ. Saturday is coming!

Yeah I mean can't blame him. Just happy that Louisville didn't get him. That would have reallllly Editeded me off and caused me to officially give up on following recruiting (until the next big recruit rips our hearts out). Frustrating because objectively, we were the best fit. Oh well. All i gotta say is. We are DUE for some recruiting battle wins and national championship appearances. Our Karma is off the CHARTS right now

Did Mack choose today? And if so, who did he choose?

Might not be a bad choice for PJ if Mack goes with him......

Good question. While I don't doubt B&G's motives, I always find it peculiar how grown men latch onto a supposed source as if he is the second coming of JC himself. So it went with Balla before his precipitous fall from grace. In any event, Dozier isn't coming to Georgetown, so you all can get back to regularly scheduled Wednesday drudgery. TC, Big Dog, brasky - now all we need is for RDF to check in, to make it a Grumpy Old Man Quartet! Frazier, aren't you like 20 years older than me? Actually just asking, not trying to make a point. Actually, I was coming onto the Board hoping to get a sense of whether we still had a shot at the kid given that my first stop for info (Twitter) suggested we weren't in it any longer. When I arrived here for the first time in many weeks, I jumped to the end of this thread to find that people were still hopeful, and so I (quite naturally) asked what the basis for that hope was. After scrolling back a few pages I learned that the answer was "blueandgray says we're still in it." That's certainly enough to justify further board discussion, even if--speaking only for myself--it wouldn't be enough for me to bother watching the live stream. All that means is that I tend to trust journalists over board sources, but as someone pointed out, that was the case with Noel and it cut the other way. So I fault no one for holding out hope here until the bitter end. Still, I'm going to choose to assume going forward that anyone live streaming their announcement isn't going to be picking the Hoyas now or in the future. And now back to the afternoon drudgery.

Listen, I just observe the HoyaTalk laws of recruiting which are : The Law of Latavious : any time a thread goes past 40 pages, we will not sign that recruit The Noel Corollary : if a recruit goes on TV to announce, he will not sign with Georgetown A lot of people keep posting "it's different this time", but it never is.

TC, I said it was different for "me" this time. But hoyatalk didn't have a meltdown. I think we collectively responded well.

And now back to the afternoon drudgery. 20 years?! Wow, that hurts. I mean, it's true - that's what hurts. I just didn't see where the harm was in having a little hope that this one might fall our way. And as for the "journalist" - I admit that sometimes they have the inside track, but on this one I got the strong sense that they really did not know anything more than anyone else, they were just guessing. Although I won't make the same universal assumption about livestream announcements, I didn't watch today, I have never yet watched an announcement, and don't plan on it in the future. That's what Hoya Talk is for!

knowing what I know about IIIs love for long, detailed conversations with those in the media, I will take the word of a well-connected board insider who has given good information in the past over any "journalist"

Sorry to lose out on the young man but you have to respect his choice to stay home and continue family legacy at USC. Glad he didn't pick Louisville!

Happy for the kid and the family. Hope that everything ended on a strong note with our coaches and who knows what the future holds. These days more and more kids are transferring after a couple of years. I am sure that our coaching staff understands that and is at least trying to remain on a cordial relationship with all former recruits.

From a USCe insider...
"As far as schools go, Georgetown and Louisville probably finished tied for second. If P.J. was going to go out of state, the dad wanted to see him go to Louisville and the mom wanted to see him go to Georgetown. The dad was the one doing all the talking to the media, so he always put a positive light on the Cardinals. Personally, I believe if it wasn't South Carolina, it would have been Georgetown, based on the information I was given."
Shudder.

Could have finished second, fifth, or fiftieth. Doesn't matter. What's the saying, close only counts in horseshoes and nuclear warfare? He didn't choose Georgetown, so let's move on. He already has.

I can't vouch for validity of the SC insider's post, but here's an honest question: when was the last time a high-level recruit (outside of Devonta Pollard's non-basketball related issues) listened to his mother and did what she wanted him to do? I feel like this is a broken record (especially for everyone we recruit): Mom wanted G'town, but recruit decides to go somewhere else. Any HS kid out there still listening to Mom?
