If Ivan wants to avoid potentially being on a team banned from the NCAAs the year he plays, he should eliminate UNC.

It's all over twitter, Ivan uses it, he will know. Ivan has stated in interviews that going to a solid academic program is important to him. It could be lip service, but if he's serious at all, that would pretty much eliminate UNC. You 're right, though; if he is serious about going to a "solid" academic school. I am convinced that a lot of these kids say that for their moms.

Kids aren't cutting a school for something like that. You go to UNC to play basketball. The academics are secondary. A distant secondary.

I'm not sure I totally agree with you, enj. I can still recall Jabril saying how he chose Georgetown partly because it was a strong academic institution. to paraphrase, he said if basketball didn't work out, at least he would have a good education.

On the one hand, you can always find plenty of challenging and diverse academic pursuits at any university, certainly including UNC. On the other hand, if not only the academics, but also the academic reputation of the school, are important to a recruit and his family, this kind of story could be a factor when there are other great options available.

I was with you until you mentioned UNC.

True. But Dozier has more cache as a recruit coming out of HS. He probably has real designs on an NBA career, whereas JT would have to put more of his eggs in the education basket.

This story has been known for quite a while and the basketball program hasn't been touched by it. Raise your hand if you think either Roy Williams will be penalized or if the basketball team banned from the NCAA Tournament. That said, if that is a real concern and I'm a guy that's only expecting to be in school for a year or two, non-eligibility for the NCAAs would definitely be a factor in choosing a school.

NCAA has no teeth. Zero chance they go after a blueblood unless its Kentucky. And even then they'd need to catch Cal handing over a personal cheque with a bag of blow while smiling and waving at a camera.

On a more important, though unrelated note, I'm glad you're safe enj.

Haha. Forgot about that. Have to "dumb" it down so as not to offend my friends.
My pops is a retired government employee but was doing some consulting downtown this morn. He was on lockdown but never in danger. Security is pretty lax down there; or should I say it used to be.

We're not as bright as you think we are, enj. Glad to hear that you and your father are safe.
As for the "laxness" of the security. . .don't worry, someone will blame it on Obama.

Since when is someone's personal safety a higher priority than our chance to lure Perry Dozier to the Hilltop? You people shock me. Stay on point.
That said, it's very sad to see that the loons have spread to our neighbor to the north. Totally crazy stuff, and glad you and your loved ones are safe, enj.

All is good. Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure Dozier doesn't mind...
