I, for one, hope we do not. I do not want GU associated with your cheating program or mouth-breathing, cretin fan base.
Good luck on Tobacco Road.

The football schools ruined a great basketball conference. Move on, today the sun is shinning and the sky is not falling.

Come on. You can't take the high road and talk to Syracuse people.
They'd never be able to hear us all the way down there.

Texanmark- I think you were one of three teams that defined a great conference. That the new Big East doesn't include two of those teams is a regret. The other team that is not with us, UConn, might return once it sees how unsatisfying is life as a football whore.
You are going to a conference whose focus is and I think will remain below the Mason Dixon Line. Duke and UNC don't know Pearl Washington, Sherman Douglas or Derrick Coleman, nor do they care. Durham and Chapel Hill will be longer road trips than Verizon Center, your home away from home.
I watch with interest how you establish yourself as a very northern appendage of Tobacco Road.

Texanmark is not a troll poster--this board tends to view every visitor as an enemy combatant. I remember the confusion expressed by the late Paul Smith, the Pittsburgh sportswriter and prolific message board poster known as Buckeye Paulie, why people at HoyaTalk were so quick to shout him down whenever he posted.
Aside from the competitive fires between Georgetown and Syracuse people, I think there are legitimate feelings that Syracuse betrayed the conference they helped built. Yes, it's about money, but that doesn't excuse the decision.
"Liars & Traitors Will Not Be Missed" reads the sign on the front page photo--the liars refer to Pitt and the traitors refer to Syracuse. No one particularly cares that West Virginia is gone, nor Virginia Tech, Miami, or even Notre Dame, short timers to whom the Big East meant as much as a name on a business card. But Boston College and Syracuse were different, they were there at the beginning, and as such the enmity is a little different. You don't burn down your own house. Georgetown hasn't scheduled a single game with BC after one of the longest rivalries in Hoya basketball history (46 consecutive seasons) and that's no accident. The Eagles are now an afterthought in basketball and worse in football. How does BC compete against Florida State, Clemson, Miami, North Carolina et al.? They can't. BC has become Wake Forest with a lot more snow.
Syracuse fans can express goodbyes because, deep down, they know they sold their birthright. They will miss Old Man Boeheim when he steps down, and woe to Mike Hopkins the first year the Orangemen go below .500 in the ACC.

Magoo has 2 years left at most, then trying to sell recruits on going to the frozen tundra, for an untested coach, to travel hundreds of miles for almost every game, and never be more than the 3rd or 4th dog in a southern conference - BC Redux.

I never claimed he was a troll. But that doesn't mean I can't treat him as an enemy combatant. The Hundred Years War ended more than half a millennium ago....but go ahead and ask the English and the French if they like each other. As the sign famously stated: Our hatred is eternal. However, the rest of DFW's post is spot on. And Syracuse football already sucks pretty bad. It's not all bad news though, Orange. You have moved into one hell of a good lacrosse league. And just to show I'm not all mean: I would like to wish everyone up in Syracuse a very happy Canada Day.

DFW he may not be a troll poster and when he has come on this board he has always been appropriate in his postings. I will take issue with his postings regarding Georgetown and JTll on a variety of Syracuse and other BE boards where in my opinion he has pushed the limit if not crossed the line of racist remarks. I was banned several years ago from one of the syracuse boards by daring to point this out to him. I will also disagree with your analysis regarding SU fans selling their BE birthright. I have been very close with many current and former SU AD adminstrators and fans who overwhelmingly support the current move, and to this day resent the fact that they didn't make the move ten years ago when initially offered.

I find it difficult to find fault with fans of the leaving schools (unless they are obnoxious or disagreeable for another reason) considering that they had no role in the move. My cousin is a Syracuse fan and he did not want the school to leave the Big East. I think there are probably a lot of people like my cousin who aren't thrilled about the move.
While I am happy we seem to have landed in a good "new" conference, I and I think a lot of other fans would still have preferred to keep things the way they were (assuming it could have been stable, which it was not). The Big East conference of the last several years has been a great basketball conference and I will miss that. That being said, I think we are in a good spot now and I think Georgetown emerged from the conference wreckage far better than any of us could have imagined a year ago. I know I'm excited to see how it plays out.

At the risk of sounding childish, I will quote my children and say that when it comes to the feelings of Syracuse fans, "my cup of care is empty."

lol While a few Georgetown fans are still obsessed with Syracuse, Syracuse is thinking about NC, Duke, Louisville and other ACC opponents. SMH!

Nashville, if you go on the Syracuse boards you will notice a few SU fans still "obsessed" with badmouthing the Hoyas too. We can move on to the future while still reveling in the past; a hatred 33 years in the making does not just disappear overnight!

The main reason I am disappointed we will not be playing Syracuse anymore is because we will not have any more opportunities to defeat them or embarrass them at the Carrier Dome. No doubt, those were some of the most fun games we have had, and there is no doubt that it's something we will miss.
My attitude has always been that if there's a fair way to keep a series going, so be it, but we certainly shouldn't do something detrimental to ourselves (like a "neutral" game at Madison Square Garden) to make it happen. The comparisons to Boston College aren't entirely analogous, either. Sure, there was a long history with BC in the sense that we played them for decades, but at least in the last 20-30 years, that matchup simply did not garner the enthusiasm or excitement that the Syracuse rivalry brought.
That said, I am excited about Georgetown's future - we certainly don't need Syracuse to make our future a great one. However, if an opportunity presents itself to defeat them again in a fair setting, I would welcome that matchup.

Success for NashvilleHoyas a Georgetown fan since 1974 and what use to be part of a huge national fan base is not defeating UConn and Syracuse, but consistently attracting top 10 recruits and challenging for national championships. Georgetown just need to continue be one of the premiere programs in college basketball.
