Just a quick recap for now. Left in the morning at 10 am, drove 7 hours, ate, tailgated for a few, went to the game, ate and drove back, returning to Georgetown at 5:30 am.
I can post the important details tomorrow but first off, The Colonial Center is the most impressive Arena I have been to and the place is ridiculously loud. There's a reason they beat Kentucky there and went 16-3 at home and 2-10 on the road. That place is a ridiculous home court advantage.
Still, DJ was on fire and he just put on a show. After the first half I expected us to cruise but we gave up that bad run to start the second half and really let the crowd become a factor.
The officiating was really sketchy in the second half. I hate blaming officials cause it usually evens itself out and all but it was ridiculous. Bowman and Green getting screwed over on calls that should have been blocks. And with 43 seconds Jeff getting called for the block along the baseline when we were down 1 made me want to explode at the refs. AHHHHH!!!!
Still, a great season and a great experience driving down there. The 14 hours of driving for a game was well worth it for this team. I want to thank the team and Coach Thompson for giving us something to cheer about and for giving us hope for the future.
I just can't believe the season is over now. The offseason should be interesting and next year is gonna be a blast!

Ill repost what I put in the post game thread:
Just got back from the game (7 hour drive each way with 007 and two other friends). Basically we had problems stopping them defensively when we really needed to. I hate to blame it on the refs but this was the worst officiated game I have witnessed all year. We got a bunch of calls in the first half (no call fouls on TC a couple of times) and they got more in the second half when it REALLY mattered. The bad calls helped their momentum so much its hard to explain. 2 or 3 times there was a contested USC layup and the same ref waited until it didn't go in to call the foul. There were SEVERAL late whistles AFTER the play went bad for the cocks.
That being said. I thought everyone played well on the offensive end. It was clear that we had no inside presence really to contend with. They played good D on Green the whole game so we settled for the outside shot, which was falling obviously.
Other observations:
-The first 30 minutes of the game the crowd was silent, the last 10 it was a fricking madhouse. -They like to say the word "cocks" a lot. -Everytime we shot a 3 the people behind me groaned, which I found funny because we are usually not that much of a threat. -DJ could not miss. The last 3 treys he made were contested. There really wasn't anything USC could do to stop him (except for the first 10 mins of second half where I think he was scoreless). His 4 point play was unreal, shut the crowd up for a bit. -Jeff Green's 3 point attempt towards the end that would have tied it up was a pretty close rim out, I thought it was in. There was no way they were gonna let DJ shoot it as they were in his face the entire time. -The last two games have proven that we need a home court like Mcdonough. Their place was WILD the second half. If that game is played on a neutral court we win by 10, no question (NIT sucks that way), if played at Mcdonough we win by 15. You couldn't hear a thing when they went on their run and it definately affected our players tempo, not much we could do in that regard. It made me salivate for a home court on campus. 007 told me that they were 16-3 at home and 2-10 on the road--there is a reason for that. -they played "New York, New York" by Sinatra after the game. I was sad.

I was just thinking and I believe y'all will agree with me: It sucks it's over, but what a ride, eh?
Just remember how we all felt after Temple.
RIP, Bad Brandon. Welcome, Brandon Superstar.
ROY. And Roy. And Wallace. And AF1.
Mr. Clutch, DJ Owens. I hope he returns.
Can't wait till next year. I'm going to try to work to maximize consciousness of the program over the summer so when the season arrives we are looking at a good team with a fervent following.
