Walker declared for the draft today. Hello Europe Man if that.... Florida folks were saying that but I just assumed transfer was the only viable option..they claim grades were a problem

With Donovan likely leaving Florida, will the Hoya staff still want Noah Dickerson? Will using up a slot for him (along with possibly Anton Gill) fill up all schollies for the 2016 class?

There is only one open schollie for the upcoming 2015/16 season. We can take one - Gill, Dickerson, whomever. Whether or not they would be eligible for the 15/16 season (Dickerson) or have to sit out a year as a transfer (Gill), or an unknown 5th year senior transfer who would be eligible right away. However, GU is currently overloaded with front court talent and desperately needs another guard. Whether Dickerson would be interested in GU, or vice versa is immaterial because that ship has sailed. Agau essentially took that slot.

He may not want to leave. Anthony Grant returned back to Florida after being fired from Alabama so if Donovan leaves the team Florida still has a pretty good coach. We need guards anyway, I say our dance card is pretty full as far as PF goes. www.al.com/alabamabasketball/index.ssf/2015/04/anthony_grant_takes_assistant.html

As I posted in the separate Coaching Carousel thread in Pro & College Sports, multiple media outlets are now reporting that Donovan to Oklahoma City is a done deal.

I wouldn't have said this back when Noah decommitted, but I'd rather have Derrickson, now that he's in shape. He gives you a big body down low, but more versatility and shooting ability.

You can never have enough good big men.n especially in the college game with 5 fouls. With Donavan gone he should recommit to where he's supposed to be. Make Mutombo proud.

I think White and Peak have pretty good handles relative to their size/position, but I think it's hyperbole to say they both have great handles. We need a guard with a great handle, not another PF.

Agree that here is no need for Noah now, but it surprises me that so many think that we do not need bigs. We do not need wings at the 3. Our only true 4 on this team is the Louisville transfer (completely unproven in game action) and possibly Derrickson. Copeland, White, Mourning and Cameron are all suited to the 3, more than the 4. Copeland can play the 4 but does not yet have the strength for the position and has the range and the mentality more of a 3 than a banger underneath. I honestly believe that White ends up playing the 2-3 all season, even if coming off the bench. As for the 5, we have two players, one of whom has never played in college and the other has almost never played though heading into his senior year. If a true post player becomes available, I hope he gets a strong look.

I agree. However, I thought the original statement was that we do not need any more big men. I would love for us to get another guard or two quick. Didn't Peak play some guard in high school?

When Dickerson was committed to us, the thought around here seemed to be that Dickerson would be playing as the 5 often. I would still take him if he wanted to come here because he's probably much better than any guard that we would get at this point (of course, if there was a good guard that would be more important).
I still don't get what happened with Dickerson. In September after a visit to Georgetown he tweeted that he couldn't wait to get to Georgetown, and 2 weeks later he decommitted. I guess it was because he did well in AAU and more suitors. Then again, he's a high school student, so maybe it shouldn't be surprising.

I guess it was because he did well in AAU and more suitors. Then again, he's a high school student, so maybe it shouldn't be surprising. He's from Florida and grew up a Gator football fan so I think Billy Donovan was able to flip him with his smooth talk. The other thing is when he committed to us we already had Govan, Derrickson, Noah Dickerson, Copeland, Paul White, Hayes and were fine and ecstatic with that. So nothing has really changed from that other than adding Akoy. Center depth still seems rather thin with the exit of Joshua/Hopkins and only Govan and Hayes. Hayes is still a bit of a question mark IMO and Govan is a freshman. Akoy may be able to play center but may not have the bulk. And Noah seems to be able to shift between center and power forward. Michael Derrickson is only 6-7 so seems more suited for power forward. Trey Mourning seems like a power forward/small forward. And Copeland's best position like Otto is small forward. Noah solves any doubts at the center position by giving us flexibility and depth at multiple front court positions in case Hayes is a bust or Govan starts off slow or gets in foul trouble.

Govan committed after Dickerson, and it likely had an effect on his decision to decommit. That hasn't changed.
Marcus Derrickson isn't a C though he may play some and we could use another big but not nearly as much as we could use a G.
