Now we need to hire an aggressive, connected recruiter. Maybe a Texas cat.

Is he ready though? What evidence to we have that he can recruit? Now personality wise he'd be a great hire. Great guy!

Good news for the program and for Brennan. Assistants leaving for head coaching jobs is always welcomed. I too am interested to see if we hire from within or not, but somebody who is a strong recruiter is essential.

Othella should be promoted to full time to take Brennan's role...that is, assuming Othella wants the job and expects to keep coaching for awhile. If Othella gets the gig, then JYD would be a great replacement for Othella - would be first on my list. I'd also make a call to Patrick Ewing, just to see if he'd be interested.

Congrats to Brennan!
I wouldn't necessarily promote Othella. We need a tireless worker on the recruiting trail -- I obviously know nothing about Othella, but I don't know that an ex-NBA player with tons of cash is usually the type of guy to be on the road 300 days a year, flying coach, kissing up to kids, etc. I always think a guy like him wants to skip that part of coaching. Could be wrong -- if he's that guy, sure!

This hire can't be understated. III needs to make a home run hire here

I'd give Rob Ehsan a call.
Would love to have him on staff.
Mike Pegues too.

Was an assistant at MD under Gary Williams, wasn't retained when Mark Turgeon took over. He's a RELENTLESS recruiter and is very well liked and respected locally. Also a very good coach on top of his tireless effort on the recruiting trail. Pegues is an assistant at Xavier. Played at DeMatha, coached D.C. Assault. Another young coach who is a relentless recruiter and is also well connected and respected locally.

I'd rather him than poach from a new conference-mate. We need Xavier to stay strong.
