future150.com/hs/basketball-news/2013-aau-super-showcase-saturday-recap-3259Reid Travis, 2014 PF, Howard Pulley: Travis was fantastic throughout the entire gold super showcase. He used his strength to bull his way through defenders and finish at the rim despite a good amount of contact. Travis also showed that he is a threat to step out and hit shots from deep as well. He is a walking matchup nightmare with a high motor and there is little doubt that he will be an impact player at the next level. I kinda remember the staff having interest in PJ Dozier... PJ Dozier, 2015 PG, Upward Stars: P.J. is a unique talent in the fact that he is equal parts scorer and play maker. He is athletic and can either take bigger defenders off of the dribble or post up smaller ones. He used his length to pressure fellow top 2015 prospect Malachi Richardson into tough shots. His passing ability was also on display as he made a series of pinpoint passes for easy baskets.

Liked Travis a lot the other day and I think he would be a great fit at GU. He'll be one of the biggest climbers when the next rankings come out.

insider.espn.go.com/blog/dave-telep/post/_/id/3782/july-road-trip-tips-off-with-lebron-day-1Hoyas stand out to Kell To hear him talk about his emergence, ESPN 100 guard Trey Kell (San Diego/St. Augustine) tells his story from a cookie-cutter script. Little-known player from a small city near San Diego wins a state title, has good grades, finds his confidence and the next thing you know he’s a shooting star. Well, it’s a little more complicated. Rest assured, this guy takes nothing for granted. Kell’s father was a baseball player growing up in Baltimore. When his grandmother got sick, Trey’s dad chose to tend to his mom and a scholarship to Jackson State went to another player. His father’s path set the tone for Kell. San Diego State, UC-Irvine, Gonzaga, Oregon and Arizona State are interested. When asked which program would be difficult to turn down, Kell said, “Georgetown would be hard to say no to. They’ve got kids with character and a great coach. What more could you want?” www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/22943294/trey-kell-continues-to-see-stock-rise-in-las-vegasLAS VEGAS -- If we're going to discuss Trey Kell's ascendance as a national prospect, last weekend in Las Vegas might have been the crescendo. Virginia offered. Then Arizona offered. Then UCLA offered. And to think his story started before last school year with zero offers. “It's risen a lot,” Kell said of his own stock as a prospect. “Going to these big-time camps over the summer. It's good to get recognition. Before that, I never really went outside of California except for the two Vegas tournaments. But this year, we went all around. It gave me that national recognition, and people are beginning to notice me. He's up to more than 20 offers, including the three mentioned above. Vanderbilt, San Diego State, Boston College, UC-Irvine and San Diego are among the other schools that have extended scholarship offers. Michigan, Marquette and Georgetown are showing interest, while programs like North Carolina and Gonzaga evaluated him at games in Vegas.

future150.com/hs/basketball-news/2013-power-24-saturday-recap-3270Diamond Stone, 2015 C, Wisconsin Young Legends: After shedding 20 pounds, Stone has become quite a different player and it has made all the difference. The No. 5 overall player in the country moved around the paint with mobility and skill, as he showed a soft touch with both of his hands in the post. He also hit several mid-range jumpers to showcase his shooting ability.

There's a reason Bonzie lead the EYBL in PER - dude fills up the stat sheet efficiently. IMO, he's one of those great college players in that he'll be hugely productive in college, and will stick around longer since the NBA will probably ding him for his height. He'll be a 4-year player that will contribute all 4 years. My #1 for 2014 is still Elbert Robinson, but I'd be very happy to have the 2nd player be Bonzie, Paul White, Devin Robinson, Kelly Oubre, etc.
The WORST thing that could happen is Bonzie going to ND. Brey stalked him all July and he's just the type of player that will keep ND relevant in the ACC.

The ties that the Hoyas hope bindJohn Thompson III has to be giddy about the Class of 2015. The best ways to begin a recruiting relationship are either a prior relationship or a "hookup." With center Noah Dickerson (Atlanta/North Atlanta) and point forward Terance Mann (Lowell, Mass./Tilton), the Hoyas have one of each.
Dickerson is the "hookup." While playing at the Best of the South in July, Dickerson shared a nugget with me. When asked who was recruiting him the hardest, the rising junior out of Atlanta wasted no time and said Georgetown. Apparently, Dickerson went to school with the daughter of former Hoya Dikembe Mutombo. Now, Dickerson and Mutombo are exponentially different. Mutombo was long and a shot-blocker, while Dickerson is wide and a true post player. However, the connection exists and you best believe Mutombo reached out to his alma mater to let them know. Georgetown is in good shape there.
With Mann, there's a prior familial relationship. His mother, Northeastern women's basketball head coach Daynia La-Force Mann, played her college basketball for Georgetown. Boston College was the first offer for Mann, a do-it-all wing with BABC and the Tilton School, but Georgetown is on him hard, as is VCU.
If you can have one scenario like this every few years, a college coach would take it. To have a pair of good players with ties to the program is quite fortunate. Georgetown made a point to pay close attention to these guys this summer, and we'll pay close attention to how the scenarios play out next year.
And did I mention that Georgetown great Patrick Ewing once ran with BABC, the same AAU program Mann plays for? The connections just keep coming for Thompson's crew.
JT3 has to offer Mann when he visits later this month btw... Can't let him leave without one

www.theintentionalfoul.com/Reid Travis, 6’8”, 2014, PF, Howard Pulley Reid Travis - Scarberry Media After an excellent high school season at De La Salle in Minneapolis, Travis continued his strong play throughout all four EYBL sessions averaging approximately 18 points and 9 rebounds a game. With his strong play, Travis bumped himself into a top 50 player in his class but was not done with his climb. In the Peach Jam, Travis led his team in scoring at 22.8 points per game while shooting a remarkable 65.6% from the floor. After having one of the most impressive individual Peach Jam performances, Travis put up 22 points and 6 rebounds a game at the Global Challenge. If all this wasn’t enough, he dominated in the Super Showcase and played a key part in knocking off the top team in the country (E1T1) in the championship game. Travis is a key recruit for new Minnesota coach Richard Pitino and is considered one of the “Big 3” in Minnesota along with AAU teammate Tyus Jones and shooting guard Rashad Vaughn. With his stellar play, Pitino now faces competition from all parts of the country as coaches try to lure him away from Minneapolis. Riley LaChance, 6’3”, SG, 2014, Ray Allen Select Three weeks in July proved that LaChance is one of the best, if not the best outside shooter in the class of 2014. Playing for the Milwaukee based Ray Allen Select, LaChance put up high scoring figures in the Next Level Invitational held at Homestead High in Mequon, WI. LaChance and Ray Allen Select spent week two in July at the same gym, but this time they played against some of the top teams and players in the country. He opened the tournament on fire and finished the tournament the same way. Despite losing in the championship game to DC Assault, LaChance put up 39 points on 15-25 shooting and hit 7-11 three’s. In Las Vegas, LaChance continued his torrid shooting display. While mid majors such as Drake and UC-Irvine were heavily involved in LaChance’s recruitment, the big boys finally started to reach out. He recently received offers from Oklahoma State and Butler and he is set to visit Missouri in the fall.

Of guys not named Elbert, Reid Travis is my 1 seed. Every game and clip of him I see I like, but I fear he is gonna go someplace where he can go play football if he gets tired of basketball.

Reminds me of Beasley without the perimeter game and athleticism. Needs to work on his left, but is unstoppable going right. He's moved into my top 3 with Elbert, Oubre and Travis.

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/on-the-trail/Best performers of JulyMr. Dependable: Bonzie Colson Jr. Colson is an undersized power forward, but he produces on a consistent basis with his scoring and rebounding. He understands how to use his body to create angles in the low post to put a defender in jeopardy, but perhaps most importantly he plays with a motor and a big heart. He knocks down face-up jump shots at the elbows, and inside he utilizes his 6-foot-11 wingspan to help him perform against taller and stronger players. Simply put, you can depend on him to score and rebound in any contest. Notre Dame and Butler are just a couple of the schools after him. Reid Travis admitted he couldn't handle Bonzie when they played a couple of weeks ago.. In fairness to Travis he did drop 31 himself in the game.. Best rankings buster: Robert Johnson I first evaluated him in April and came away impressed with his skills and poise in the backcourt. His play has been strong all spring and summer as he has shown a high-level ability to score by nailing jumpers both on the break and in the half court. He also scores well off the drive, and his playmaking abilities are evident as he can initiate the offensive and create a scoring opportunity for himself or others. In our next updated player rankings he will be knocking someone out of the ESPN 100. His list of schools includes North Carolina, Virginia, Miami, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Indiana and Georgetown. Emerging prospect, Part I: Reid Travis He quietly dominated games for Howard Pulley all July, and at the Nike Global Challenge he led the event in scoring at 22 points per game. What makes him special is that he is a hard-working player. A regular double-figure rebounder, he goes and gets the ball off the glass and does so with willingness and desire. As a prototypical power forward, he scores best in the paint and from the free-throw line. He is solid and smooth from the elbows and capable from the 3-point arc, which shows he can elevate his game while still dominating inside. He is still looking to finalize his college list but likes Gonzaga, Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Stanford and UCLA, while Duke is now calling. Emerging prospect, Part II: Kelly Oubre His versatility and athletic ability make him an extremely valuable player. He comes ready to play and tries to dominate opponents with his penetration, rebounding and selective 3-point shooting. When the game slows down he is a difficult matchup because of his versatility to score, handle and rebound, but where he truly impacts a game is with his finishing ability in transition. Upside was a word used all summer long to describe Oubre. He cut his list to UConn, Florida, Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas, Georgetown, Oregon and UNLV. Oubre could also easily win the best hair award! Emerging prospect, Part IV: Devin RobinsonA long athletic shooter who oozes with potential, Robinson makes shooting 3s look easy. He is fluid with his movement and is a finesse player with skill who looks to toe the 3-point line and make deep shots. On defense, his length allows him to bother shots. Johnson’s potential is quickly turning into production and he made the all-star team at the Reebok Breakout Classic. Notre Dame, Georgetown, UConn, Louisville, Indiana, Virginia Tech and many more are involved in his recruitment. It's good to see the staff is trying here.. Probably too little too late for Devin though.. The staff is in the game on a number of really good players for 2014 it has the making of a monster class!!! When I look at the players being recruited it tells me that the "5" spot isn't that high of a priority for the staff, Elbert is highly coveted but the position isn't. If Elbert chooses another program I'm not sure who the back-up plan would be at the 5 for 2014.. it'll be interesting to see how the next month plays out.. I'd add Elbert, Bentil & White to the group above and then I'd take the whoever commits first.
