The USBWA has Otto first team along with Burke, McDermott, Olynyk and Oladipo. First since Iverson. Congrats to Otto for this honor!

And the SI joke continues: Sports Illustrated's All-America Team Trey Burke (PG, Michigan) Marcus Smart (PG, Oklahoma State) Doug McDermott (PF, Creighton) Kelly Olynyk (PF, Gonzaga) Cody Zeller (C, Indiana) What a worthless fading rag www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/031913aaa.html

Smart is a good player, but how does he rank ahead of Otto? Stick to swimsuits.

Nothing wrong with SI's top 5. Reasonable selections, all of them.
Otto spiked for 3 massive games, but then understandably came back to earth in his final 4 games. I could see how he might lose out on some first team votes with the disappointing BET result.

IMHO, any first team without Otto and Victor Oladipo is flawed.
Olynyk and Burke I completely understand. Smart to an extent as well.
Otto Oladipo Olynyk Smart Burke

Edit - and IU's tournament performance didn't hurt Zeller?

Wow. I thought that Larranaga had that sown up. That's a huge honor for III.
Now let's not blow it. ;D

And Oklahoma State didn't exactly roll, either.
I'm surprised they didn't find a spot for Michael Carter-Williams.

I could see how he might lose out on some first team votes with the disappointing BET result. Actually he has been the best BE Player since Week 2 of the conference and the most consistent as well. The three game spike merely garnered him the national attention he wasn't given since he did not enter the season as a POY candidate and Georgetown had not been viewed as a team of consequence.

The honors keep rolling in for Otto, well deserved. He just needs to add a Final Four MVP award!
