My biggest concern is Tre Kelly. Keeping him out of the lane... looks like a lot of minutes for Ray Reed. If Kelly is able to penetrate, not only will it lead to scores, but probably to fouls on the big guys as they try to compensate. we cannot afford to have Jeff Green sitting on the bench in this game.
Let's go HOYAS!! Keep up the great end-of-season run!

I hope our bench steps it up better than the last few games. We've gotten very little production from our bench lately. South Cacalacky looked very good last night- very athletic- and we'll need help from everyone.

Their best player is Carlos Powell. He can score, and he will try to draw charges on defense. He even the Georgia coach call him a cheat in that aspect. Either way they will throw a bunch of different defenses at us, so we have to be ready for that.

What? We're playing USC? I thought we were playing South Carolina?
There's one USC, and its the one with all the national titles across multiple sports.

This is our chance to sweep the Carolinas in the NIT. Let's do the same thing that we did at Chapel Hill in the NIT a couple of years ago.
GO HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE THE COCKS OUT OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoyas are an early 5.5 point underdog. Interesting. I thought it would be a little less than that.

Any word on TV. I just cehcked the listings for ESPN, Classic and ESPN2....nothing as yet.
It would seem to me, that the quarterfinals should make it on ESPN.
Good showing last eve. at McDonough. I recall being at the Missouri game and it was as loud as last night appeared to have been.
Some may also recall Al McGuire having been at the Pub the night beofre the Missouri game, spinning discs! A true original.

Just bet my life savings on the Hoyas, hopefully this one will not down to the wire like we did last time when Braswell bailed the team out with the jumper from left of the key.

Game is not on TV. ESPN can't put the game on opposite the Sweet 16 games on CBS.
Our only chance was a Saturday early afternoon game, but they already decided on the Maryland game for Noon.

Well, I mean MD does manage to lose just about every time they are on national TV...so I can imagine the appeal of an upset.

And Go Hoyas! And of course, time for the obligatory. . . "Don't worry Lisa. We'll make sure you go to the best public univeristy there is. . . . .in South Carolina." "I will NOT be a Gamecock!"

So you see why it's somewhat disappointing to see the Rebels playing South Carolina in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
It's like bumping into Mike Tyson at the covered-dish supper down at the local Methodist church.
"So, Mike, are you here to bite somebody's ear off?"
"No, man. Have you tried Mrs. Smith's squash casserole?"
So, just like that the Runnin' Rebels have gone legit, started playing by the rules and become, well, NIT material.
Making matters worse, they were eliminated from this tournament by USC Tuesday night, 77-66.
Which means the Gamecocks now face a team called the Georgetown Hoyas here Thursday night.
Remember when they used to be good?
What has the world come to?

Remember when South Carolina used to be good? No? Me neither. Remember how Georgetown is going to be good again? I definately do. This guy should compare notes with the idiot from Pittsburgh, Feinstein and the idiot from the UConn paper. I'm sure they'd love each other.

I don't remember it because it was before I was born (I'm 31), but their last win in the NCAAs was when Frank McGuire was their coach. That was their only ACC tourney win if I'm remembering correctly so I doubt they had any NCAA bids before that. All of Burger's columns are like that one.
