I was watching TV when I saw a video of Chris in a Dallas Maverick uniform. Apparently last year he was diagnosed with MS and was told that he would never play basketball again. However, he was picked up by the Dallas Mavericks. He is the first player to play in the NBA with MS.
Way to prove the doctors wrong Chris. You make us all proud!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris did not re-sign with Iowa. Not sure if he is currently playing anywhere.

Chris is back with Iowa. Guess he just took a little time off. Went for 22 with 7 assists last night. Henry, for some reason, did not play in Erie's loss to Maine last night.

Wasn't sure where to put this, so I'll put it here: Chris Wright is on CNN right now! He's part of a bit by Sanjay Gupta and it's about his MS.
"Once I found out, I just thought 'ok, I'll just do what I have to do.'" By dint of the 10-day he signed with the Mavs, he's also apparently the first person EVER to play in the NBA with MS. "Don't be afraid to step out and do what you want to do....there may be limitations but you can still live your life....I'm part of the MS Society, and that's who I am."
Nice spot, and some great perspective from a great Hoya. Go Chris!

Chris' D League season has ended, as Iowa did not qualify for the playoffs. Of those players who played in at least half of the D League's 50 regular season games, Chris finished third in assists, while averaging 15.7 points/game. Hope he's on somebody's NBA roster next year.

Brave move Chris Wright became the first player to reach the NBA with multiple sclerosis Arecibo - The diagnosis was not encouraging. More than one doctor repeated the same words: "You can not play basketball again." "It was very difficult for me and my family," guard Chris Wright reminded of what happened in Turkey about a year ago. Finalizing the Turkish league season with the club Olin Edirne, the new imported from the Arecibo Captains was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a central nervous system disease that affects the brain, brain stem and spinal cord. It all started in a training session. "He was running a practice and foot started to go numb," he told the American. It was the first sign that something was wrong. The next day, the condition worsened. "I lost feeling in his hands," he said. And in that week, Wright reported that he was virtually paralyzed in bed. "I could not work. Do not feel my hands or feet. He could do nothing. The second week was when I started to walk again. " After several medical studies, there was a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. And Wright had no idea what it was. "When the doctor told me 'you have multiple sclerosis', I said 'what the heck is that.'" At that time, the uncertainty tucked Wright's life by ignoring what would happen in the future. And the picture looked more complicated to hear from doctors that it was unlikely his return to basketball. "Two doctors told me that I would not play again," he said. Despite the diagnosis, Wright remained positive with the support of his family. "He respected the opinion of the doctors, but I knew I could improve." Within two weeks, Wright finally able to return to his home in Washington DC There were more visits to specialists, and the last of them gave a glimmer of hope. "I said 'You can do whatever you want' and what I did". In the story, other athletes with this condition were able to play at the professional level. The exserpentinero Stan Belinda, for example, launched the last two seasons of his career with multiple sclerosis. Wright said he activated his faith in God and worked hard in the summer. And her body began to respond. "Every week progressed. He saw the condition recovered and started doing some things during the summer. " Wright regained its status and chose to remain in the United States to sign the Development League NBA (NBDL) with the team Iowa Energy. "It was ideal because it was near my house and was the platform to reach the NBA," said guard, graduated from Georgetown University. Like any basketball player, Wright longed to jump to the NBA. And his dream came true this season when called by the Dallas Mavericks a 10-day contract. He made history Wright wrote his name in the NBA player in league history by becoming the first player with multiple sclerosis in participating in this competition. "It was a dream. I thought about how hard I had worked. It was incredible. It seemed real to be next to Dirk (Nowitzki) and (Vince) Carter. I enjoyed every minute, "said the player, whose contract was not renewed by the Mavericks. Wright has a normal life. Yes must meet a monthly treatment. "I have to inject intravenously once a month. The process lasts about two hours. It's something that knocks me out for the day, but the next day I'm better. " "It is a serious illness that I will have the rest of my life, but I have to manage it and keep positive. God has been good to me all the time. I feel I've been very blessed, "said Wright, who is averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 assists in his first two games with the Arecibo Captains.
