Congrats and well-deserved, guys! Otto was a shoe in. Thought Markel had a strong chance at second team, but oh well.
Congrats to DSR on making the rookie team, too!

Awesome accomplishments (and recognition) all around. Now it looks like we'll hear about POY and COY tomorrow, if tradition holds.

From Big East Basketball Twitter Page: Defensive Player, Most Improved, Sixth Man and Sportsmanship winners named Monday. Player, Coach, Rookie, Scholar-Athlete named Tuesday.

Does Markel have a shot at most improved?

Not sure any of us would have penciled Kel in for All-Big East in October. Fantastic job, well deserved for all of his hard work.

Does Markel have a shot at most improved? I hope so, but shouldn't Otto have a shot since he didn't even make the rookie team last year? Bunch of lunkheads...

Since Otto didn't make All-Rookie Team last year, he surely should also be in line for Most Improved.

Congratulations to our Hoyas! Markel on 2nd team feels more appropriate to me but, as another poster mentioned, Triche shouldn't be anywhere on those teams. Russ Smith on the 1st seems too high also.

Otto made Dick Vitale's first team:
Dick Vitale's All-Solid Gold Team for 2012-13 FIRST TEAM Trey Burke Michigan Doug McDermott Creighton Ben McLemore Kansas Victor Oladipo Indiana Otto Porter Jr. Georgetown
But not his POY: Burke

I'm sure there's an obvious answer (Gardner?), but who is in the running for 6th man, and any chance DSR would be on the list? My guess is his lack of playing time pre-GW sitting out would count against him, but I can't think of anyone who has been more valuable coming off the bench.

sw... the media still slurps Southerland somehow. I assume that Cuse's recent struggles (starting with us whupping them at home) would preclude him winning it but....

Of course I haven't seen nearly as much of Burke as I have Otto but, from what I've seen, he's been great this year too. It didn't help Otto's case having that Michigan/Indiana game today. Regardless of how it ends up, Otto is entirely deserving of the award.

Is the Big East still doing a 6th man award?
Gotta think DSR has a good shot at that, no?
