The wear and tear of an 7 man rotation maybe catching up with the Hoyas as the season moves toward the Post-Season. Even though we won 11 games in a row, that winning streak appears to have covered up some troubling trends.
1) Turnovers--which are coming fast & steady 2) Foul trouble--this has been more than a 1 game issue
Otto Porter, a solid rock clocking in well over 38 min/gm during, I know some people will mention Kemba Walker did it, but different players/different positions. Otto is asked to rebound more than Kemba was required, thus even on the defensive and offensive end more is being asked of Otto to do. There may not be nothing wrong with this, but if Otto goes cold, who is going to step up for the lack of scoring?
Markel Starks, play looks to be the the most effected with the additional minutes added to his PT, the turnovers and his fouls have gone up. Probably both correlated by working more on defense and getting called a lot for hand checking plus having to facilitate on offense especially on fast-breaks. A couple of times the turnover will occur when we have the numbers in our favor on the break...could be indecision or fatigue from using energy on the defensive end.
Jabril Trawick, does not have the turnovers like Starks, but has been getting into foul trouble too, in the first half of games sticks out the most.
These Trawick and Starks are 2/3 the back court, so if they are struggling the odds of winning are diminished.
8th, 9th, 10th spots on the team are filled by Bowen, Caprio, and Domingo (not in any particular order), anyone one of these guys I believe can give good quality 3 to 4 minutes a game..will there be some bad times, yes but there will be good times too.
They are all still raw, but if we are even going to com-template pressuring for stretches of games then these players will be called upon. They will have to step-up cause foul trouble, fatigue, and scoring droughts all come with the territory as the season progresses. It is just a matter of which of the 3 will be most consistent when called upon for that 3 to 4 minutes stretch.

It is like driving by a car wreck. I don't want to respond but something draws me into it.
Ideally we would have an 8 man rotation if we had Whit. I don't want any of the three you mentioned getting PT in March unless they deserve it (which doesn't appear to be the case) or we need them due to foul trouble or injury.
You have overly pushed agendas a few times on this board and it is getting annoying. We don't have to agree, but volume of posts doesn't give you anymore validity. Make your position known and move on.

Never let facts get in the way of a conclusion.
Not counting the cupcake games, Starks was playing well over 30 min. per game before Greg got suspended, so his mpg really haven't increased.
But this is the same guy who, a week ago, said, "To be honest, the Hoyas don't need Greg Whittington now."
Yuh-huh. Moving on...

I was just thinking we needed yet another thread about this issue.
Maybe we just lost a game because it is REALLY HARD TO WIN EVERY SINGLE GAME. In case you hadn't noticed, we're not exactly the only ones that have a loss here or there. And it is not like Villanova hadn't knocked off any other top programs. Sometimes a loss is just a loss, and not a magic moment that exposes a tangled web of problems.
And it is "affected" not "effected."

The rotation should have determined in the cupcake part of the schedule. III chose to get the starters in synch with most of the cupcake schedule. About five years ago III told be at a function, that he only needs a 7 man rotation, maybe 8 if he has a super freshman that has to play behind his star.
That said, we have what we have for this year and for next year, with Otto's scholie being the only one available.

And then he ate an entire wheel of cheese in one bite.

One time I was with JTIII in the back of a pickup truck, along with a live deer. III goes up to the deer and says, 'I'm JTIII! SAY IT!' Then he manipulates the deer's lips in such a way as to make it say, 'Jtthree' ... It wasn't exactly like it, but it was pretty good for a deer.

If were are losing games at the end - it can be fatigue but we have only lost once in 12 games- no?

Correct, we have won 11 of 12, 13 of 15...As skyhoya stated, JTIII likes to keep a 7 man rotation, so I think tomorrow will tell us a lot. Will JTIII keep the tight 7 man rotation inspite of the foul trouble and turnovers (if they occur) or will 1 of the 3 mentioned bench players get that crucial 3 to 4 minutes of PT.

An equally valid discussion.... if 7 players foul out, who's getting minutes then?
