That is very true and definitely a cause for concern because as a group this team has shown a lack of aggression offensively and we play our best when everyone is confident and attacking on that end. I think Markel has been settling for jumpers a bit since the Syracuse game. That being said we have had a bit of a history of not getting our best player as involved in the offense as they should be over the years. It's interesting to see the opposite. Except for that drive in OT by Markel, I agree. That drives a perfect example of what we need more of. With Boatrigjt sadled with four fouls and being a weak on ball defender to begin with, I thought he should have been attacking the basket almost every time down when we were struggling to score. I think he gets too discouraged when he has problems finishing in his first few drives. He needs to keep attacking because even if he isn't finishing it opens things up for others.

I can't (nor do I want to) disagree with you sleepy. Markel has more to his game that he's only shown in flashes. It's winning time.

JT-3 pointed out in the post game conference yesterday that Markel has been playing "extremely well." However, you are right, Markel's play is getting a little bit overlooked in the glow of Porter and the pleasant surprise of DSR.

Kels has been an all-big east guard this year in a league inundated with guards. He could get 2nd team; too many other guards to get 1st team.

He's been great the whole year. I think the trepidation comes from the fact that he's coming of a 6 game stretch where he was averaging 16.3 ppg. He's followed that in the last 4 games with 3 single digit scoring games and, more importantly, has shot 35.7% from the field and 32% from three in those games. My concern is that he's in a shooting slump. Hopefully, he'll be out of it this week.

I think the talent comparison between the Reggie team and the Otto team is a toss-up. Charles Smith's contributions to that team were similar to DSR's this year. Markel is certainly better this year than the freshman guards were on Reggie's team. Plus, what the Reggie team didn't have were any good bigs at all. But it did have Perry McDonald, who was a unique player (and I mean unique - I can't remember anyone like him since, anywhere). McDonald was a great player for that team - we certainly don't beat Syracuse three times (or likely at all) without him.
So while it's close, I would give the talent edge to the Reggie team. And when you consider that this team looked like it was headed for the toilet after GW's suspension, and that Otto has become a legitimate player of the year candidate seemingly out of nowhere, I don't think Otto and the Miracles is an insult at all.
