Damian Lillard wasn't a 6'7" turnover-prone, low-percentage-shooting power forward. If you wanted Benimon instead of Otto, just say so; you clearly have made the argument in your own head. Jerell is shooting 53.9 overall & 41.7(48 attempts) from 3pt land, how is that a low percentage player? Even if we adjust down 5-8 percentage pts for competition his percentages his 3pt #'s alone would warrant playing time on this squad. I'll be honest and admit I was happy when he left but I will admit too that this new & improved Jerell would help Gtown now. You're not being straight up if you watch him play & see the same kid who played for G'town. He's really improved physically and on the court. That's my reaction, and I think that it is the most rational and honest one -- he had some decent games for us as a Hoya but was pretty cringe-worthy while here. He also took Hopkins-level abuse on this board. He appears to have improved dramatically, so good for him and his team. Given his improvement, he probably would have been a help to our current team, but we'll never know if he would have improved like he did at Towson, whether the chemistry would have worked out if he stayed, etc. etc. Player transfers are often head-scratchers, but it obviously looks like JB made the right choice.

On the Games of Interest front, with #1 Indiana, #8/5 Florida, and losing, there will be opportunity to move up this week if we can beat UConn and take care of business against Rutgers, and a little bit of cushion if the Hoyas slip up.
Other matchups this week that will definitely result in a loss for a team near us in the rankings (AP ranks): - #5 Miami at #3 Duke - #9 Michigan State at #4 Michigan - #10 Louisville at #12 Syracuse
Other games that could bring about more losses... - #3 Duke at Virginia - #11 Arizona at UCLA (would be doubly good for us for RPI/tourney purposes) - #13 K-State at Baylor (the Bears have fallen off lately, but could still play spoiler.

I would think, at this point, we should be rooting against Michigan State in all Big 10 games, because they seem to be the lowest seed of the Indiana/Michigan/Michigan State group and the easiest for us to surpass. The bracket matrix has them with an average seed of 2.4, compared to Indiana's average of 1.00 and Michigan's average of 1.79. bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

If you think GU goes 7-0 or 6-1, getting the BET 1-seed and winning the tourney, then we want Michigan (and to a lesser extent, Indiana) to lose. If you have us at 5-2 or 4-2/4-3 down the stretch, then it makes more sense to root for MSU and the other 2/3 seed competitors to lose. Fortunately, by the time most of these games happen this weekend, we'll have a better sense of how the Hoyas did tonight, and thus, who to root for.

Vernon Macklin 2.0 -- it's a mazing what a year off to focus can do for a guy who's got the raw talent.

Yep...which is why I'm intrigued by the idea of redshirting Bradley Hayes next year with Hopkins/Lubick/Ayegba back along with Josh Smith joining as a JR.

Regarding JB.....if you get recruited to Georgetown, you have game. It just may take some work to blossom. It doesn't surprise me JB is playing well. It would probably surprise me more if he didn't given the lower level of competition.
I am pleased things are going well for him.

On PTI, while discussing Indiana's loss and if Tony still thinks of them as his title favorites, he said yes but when pushed about if he thought there were any other better teams, said maybe Georgetown. ;D Hes a good one to have on the bandwagon.
