...needs to open up a basketball camp!
If skipping the AAU circuit and playing against his uncles, father and other family members can turn him into a national POY candidate, the Porters can make a little bit of change over the summers.

He has a younger brother, Jeffrey, and a younger cousin, Jaylen, who are playing at Scott County Central. Jaylen is a senior and I believe Jeffrey is a sophomore.

Lets give a shout out to Coach Kirby for getting the Hoyas Otto. The LSU team is not doing much this year, so if he should have to move on with the present coach, I hope he can return like Broadus did. He is a terrific recruiter. MSU has been dead in the water since he left them.

Coach Johnny Jones at LSU isn't going anywhere soon.

I hope that the first call Otto received post-game was from his folks. And hopefully, after telling him he had a good shooting game, they neddled him about missing a free throw and forcing a poor inbounds pass.
Pretty sure that this kid is very grounded. It's the reason that I think he bucks the trend and gets his degree. He'll be like our San Antonio Spurs - so good for so long.

It was a good weekend for the Porter Family. While everyone knows what Otto did on Saturday, all of us here in southeast Missouri also know that his little brother Jeffrey helped lead Scott County Central to their 9th straight district championship with a win over the #2 team in the state on Friday. Jeffrey is just a freshman and has a chance to end up being pretty good. Right now he is a little under 6'0" and while I doubt he ends up being 6'8" like his brother, I could see him end up in the 6'3"- 6'5" range. He's a very different player than Otto was at that age. Otto has always been smooth player with a soft touch….much more finesse than aggressiveness. Jeffrey, on the other hand, would just assume take you off the dribble and score over the top of someone. He’s not as good of a shooter as Otto was as a freshman, but he’s a better ball handler. And unlike his brother who played in the post as a freshman, Jeffrey is more perimeter oriented and has even been running the point lately. While its too early to say that Jeffrey will be a top recruit like his brother, it’s going to be interesting to follow his development over the next few years..

Anybody remember Terrance Mullin? Terrance didn't have his brother's jump shot, but he certainly had his brother's complexion.

You can't tell strictly from looking at the box score who "led" the team or anything, but Jeffrey Porter had 7 points in the big game and Jaylen had 1.

I can't even imagine having to follow a brother who had so much success. Then again... anyone remember Ben Hansbrough? While he never matched Tyler's success in college, he didn't do too bad for himself either.
