I saw Grant Hill and Laettner mentioned, but I'd actually compare him to a third Dukie. Shane Battier.
I have to go cry in the shower now.

MCI,I love ya bud but I cannot put Otto in the same sentence with the great larry bird. After everything Bird accomplished in his career you just can't.jmo Seriously hasn't anyone played this game before? Once again....it ain't about accomplishments. If it was about accomplishments we could never compare any high school player or college player to any established and accomplished pro. But since we make those comparisons all the time.... I am comparing Otto to Bird because of style of play, attitude, bball IQ, skills, etc, etc. He doesn't play exactly like Bird in every single hoops category but there is a strong similarity IMO. And as I've written before my comparison doesn't mean Otto will ever become as good as Larry Bird or better or anything. It isn't a comparison of achievement. That wouldn't be fair to Otto since he is only at the beginning of a likely long basketball career

re jeff and otto and i love jeff and loved jeff when he first came. I think that otto is very similiar at this stage AND i thinks just a tad bit better at the pull ups in the lane and the threes. maybe not as strong as jeff underneath yet. but my opinion at this point. PS he needs at least one more year to get stronger and win a championship ring if not this year then next and needs to get his degree just saying .g ohoyas ottomatic beat uconn. on wed big game. ;D

marion's shot might not have been the prettiest, but he had 6 seasons shooting >33 3FG%, including a 40% clip in 02-03. we'll see if otto can match that from nba range.

In terms of the comparison, all I hope for the rest of this season is that Otto plays as aggressively as Larry Bird (like what we saw on Saturday). He needs to bring it every game like it was his last like Larry did. BTW, I was not a fan (to put it mildly) of Larry, but I recognized his talent.
