I don't read the Gtown Voice much, but I did yesterday, and I noticed something potentially interesting. www.georgetownvoice.com/news/2005/03/17/News/A.New.Field.For.Georgetowns.Athletes-896176.shtmlThis is about the MSF, and says very little that I didn't already know, but there is one statement that caused one of my eyebrows to raise: "Eventually, the University hopes to move weight rooms and offices there, which will provide an opportunity to renovate McDonough and then Yates as well," he said. "He" being Director of Athletics Facilities and Operations Charles Kennedy. So, is that an indication that they are in fact planning to do something with our beloved high school gymnasium? Maybe even make McD less of an embarrasment? Or am I reading this WAY too optimistically?

I think that has always been part of the overall plan - the detail of when the McD/Yates stuff happens is a matter of debate / conjecture at this point.

Unfortunately, I think you are being optimistic.

I think any McDonough work might just be an upgrading of what's there. Notice the word "renovation", not "expansion"....

And I'm fully convinced that the University Admin wants a 6,000+ convocation center on campus. But I'm also firmly convinced that they want to finish the Arts building, the Boathouse, the MSF, the B School and the Sciences Building first.
